Thank you David, it's always a great pleasure to me to read these uncollected pieces. I very much appreciate your reseaches into Enid's minor work for periodicals. Love the illustration of the rat! Thanks again.

An informative story about the daddy-long-legs (or mother-long-legs, in this instance!)

That was fascinating — I didn't know that about the daddy-long-legs! There are definitely some real gems in the Cave.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: Uncollected Pip the Pixie Stories in the Cave
Enid Blyton focuses on ash-tree spinners this time. I'm not sure why any pixie would consider paying ten shillings for a flight at a funfair. After all, we've quite often seen Pip hitching a lift on a butterfly, bird or other flying creature.

Re: Uncollected Pip the Pixie Stories in the Cave
Yes, good point — although the story does say the aeroplane goes "up to the clouds", which sounds higher than a butterfly could fly, or any of the smaller birds that Pip could ride on. I had to laugh at the last line about the lasting impact of these spinner flights on Aunt Twinkle's garden!Anita Bensoussane wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 10:34 I'm not sure why any pixie would consider paying ten shillings for a flight at a funfair. Gosh, fancy Aunt Twinkle having Mr. High-Hat the Enchanter round to tea! There's some ivy blossom near my door but I've just had a look at it and there are only two bees and a number of very small flies (fruit flies) on it at the moment. I do like this story though, with Pip being so in awe of the grand and powerful Mr. High-Hat but speaking up nevertheless:

Re: Uncollected Pip the Pixie Stories in the Cave
Pip and Jinky get taught a lesson by the pine tree this week - and they certainly deserve it! What a memorable way of teaching young readers how pine-cones protect their seeds! These tales may be short but they stir the imagination and generate wonder and curiosity. I'm not surprised the stories in The Adventures of Pip made such an impression on me when I was a youngster, with a good number of them staying lodged in my mind forever.

Re: Uncollected Pip the Pixie Stories in the Cave
I enjoy reading these stories (when I remember to pop along to The Cave), but would enjoy them even more if they could be in booklet form.
Apologies if I've missed something somewhere, but is there any chance of them being published at all? I'd find it so much easier to snuggle up in bed and read a book, than looking at a screen.
I've recently been reading the Society Publication of Bob's letters, and it's great to be able to dip in and out of that, just reading a letter every now and again if I've got a few minutes to spare.
This isn't a complaint, just a suggestion.

Re: Uncollected Pip the Pixie Stories in the Cave
I open the links on my iPad, and read them 'as a book' later - in bed or in the summerhouse! Any longer items, such as the follow-on books in the members section of the Cave, I email to my Kindle to avoid a brighter screen. To publish them as booklets would entail much more work, I think Tony has enough on his plate with the Journal!

Re: Uncollected Pip the Pixie Stories in the Cave
A "batty" story this week. I used to like doing headstands and handstands as a child so I suppose Aunt Twinkle would have had a go at me too! She does come across as crotchety and overly critical at times.

Do you think you'd like to do things like head- and handstands again?
