Where does it say 'updated' at the top of the page? I can't find it! :-(

Well I assumed it was Tony's position to say when there had been an update - such as the last one which tells us of an addition to the Cave. I have a vague idea that some while ago he mentioned that he didn't think anyone took notice of that.... maybe he has been waiting for a comment like yours Nigel?

Thanks Daisy! :-) I knew I'd seen it before, but couldn't remember where! :-) Yeah - I agree the out of date date might deter people from checking updates...it would be better not to be up there at all if it's wrong.

I also thought it was up to Tony to decide whether the updated comment should be altered.

If my opinion is worth anything, then I would say that it might be a good idea to remove it, but of course it would depend on how easy it would be from an administrative point. I rarely look at it, but have glanced from time to time, and if I saw it still said 20 March I wouldn't think to check for any other updates. I usually rely on Tony saying something on the forums.

I always rely on Tony to update us by posting on the forums. I tend to agree with Nigel on this one.

I always check the updates link to see if Tony has added any reviews, so I would be sorry to see it go, but I'm always rooting about in the Cave and have made some serendipitous discoveries.

EAN: 9780001938441

There are a large number of books from the 1980s and 90s that are not in the Cave and unless I know their contents I don't bother about them. The Cave is pretty comprehensive for all books that were published in Enid Blyton's lifetime, but I am sure that there are still a number of books that she has contributed to which are missing from the Cave. Unless people tell me about these there isn't much I can do about it.

I don't put any of the modern Noddy books in at all as the stories in them were not written by Enid.

As long as all the main stories are in the Cave of Books, I personally think that is just fine. We all know there are other books published that have the same short stories repeated in many books, and I would imagine it is a nightmare trying to discover all these books.

As for the updates, I used to look at the top right for them all the time, as I think Tony used to update the date whenever anything new was added. But as no comments were made, I think Tony thought no one was looking, and so I think started to tell us. :)

I have always used the Updates page for things that have been sent to me by other people, including you Julie, and these are almost all new reviews. You will see if you scroll down it that the only time I add my own updates is for something completely new, such as a new Birns book or the first appearance of the Teachers World Letters.

I never miss a week without adding something and depending on my work situation I could well be adding and altering seven days in a row. If I were to include everything I do on the updates page it would quickly become meaningless and I feel that it is serving a better purpose if it is showing the most recent reviews by others. I appreciate that with a March 20 date we have had nothing new for over three months, but I still feel this is the best option. If I have simply improved an illustration or added further information to something I don't say anything, but if I add anything new I do let you know in this thread, for the benefit of regular users.

If you scroll down on the Updates page you will see that I explained how it worked on August 22 last year.

I have added four more uncollected stories to Teachers World in the Periodicals. We now have 204 uncollected stories showing and there is just one more to add which I don't have at present.

TW 1616 A True Dog Story
