Re: Website Additions
I just covered the title and asked my daughter, "What is that a picture of?"
"A volcano," she said.

I doubt it. The phrase is actually a Greek one. It was only translated into Latin by scholars much later, by which time the Romans would have been speaking Italian.

Re: Website Additions
Here is a book that I didn't know about that I have just added to the Cave. It isn't on Amazon, but it is dated 2014, so I guess it is coming out this year, but it certainly exists as I have a copy in my hand! It should please all those who like quiz questions as it has 162 pages of them!! There are 21 quizzes each with 50 questions, one easy and one hard and 19 medium ones - with 1050 questions I guess that is a lot more than we have on our forums!
If you click the Famous Five button on the Home Page and scroll down you will find it under Miscellaneous Famous Five.

That's interesting, Tony. I wonder who compiled all the quiz questions?

The author is given as Clive Gifford, but I will put more details of release date etc. into the Cave when I have them.

Looks a good book. I've just looked on Amazon and it's on there, Tony, paperback it says £5.99 and is out September 4th 2014. Not a bad price I thought, £5.99.

Looks intriguing. Will certainly be getting a copy of that when it comes out. I love the fact that there is some original Eileen Soper artwork on the front cover! I saw a book on Amazon the other day (also coming out Sept.4th) called 'Enid Blyton's Christmas Stories'. It looks an interesting book - a mixture of short stories and one novel spread out over the book between the shorter tales. It is in this book - 'A Family Christmas', but was originally 'The Christmas Book'. Here is a link to it, anyway: Again, I'm not keen on the artwork, but inside, it appears to be a decently presented book.

Re: Website Additions
You are quite right Julie, it is September 4th but for some reason it wasn't listed under Enid Blyton and Hodder, but I did find it under Clive Gifford. Also published on September 4th is this book:-
On the off chance that there is someone out there who is interested about what it contains you can check it out in the Cave.

Re: Website Additions
It's not a bad idea, but I'm afraid I can't get over excited about a book that is just quizzes and nothing else. I enjoy tackling quizzes but I prefer books like the Famous Five Annuals, where quiz questions appear alongside stories, articles, puzzles, games, etc.Poppy wrote:Looks intriguing [i.e. the Famous Five quiz book]. It looks as though you were posting at more or less the same time about the Christmas stories book, Poppy and Tony! Now that does look a nice, meaty read, even though I agree with Poppy that the artwork is disappointing. A lot of my favourite Christmas/New Year stories have not been included, however - I'm thinking of tales like 'Little Mrs. Millikin', 'Santa Claus is Surprising', 'Father Time and His Pattern Book', 'A Hole in Her Stocking', 'The Disappearing Presents' and 'He Didn't Say Thank You' (actually, the last two are very similar so probably wouldn't both be used in the same collection). Of the stories that are included in the book, I remember enjoying 'The Christmas Tree Aeroplane' as a youngster.

The Christmas book looks very interesting and will go on to my list.
I agree with Anita about the puzzle book. One or two in an annual is alright but not a whole book full. Once they're done, they're done.
