Many thanks, Dinah! Hope you enjoy the next serial, which I think is by Julie. :-)

Its always glad to hear that people enjoy our stories. I do wish that maybe a few more forumites read them, but I guess we all like different things, and I know many fans won't read anything not written by Blyton, which is understandable. :-D

I am really surprised that not all do read them. Why would't they? Even if it was out of curiosity I would have thought our friends here would wish to see what they were like.

So would I, but some forumites have quite flatly stated they only read Enid Blyton stories, or dislike 'fanfic' (a term I dislike!!)...and of course many other forumites aren't Society members. :-(

Rob, I love fanfic, but rather read the entire story in one piece. 8)
Next week when I hopefully will be up again, I will print it out and read it.
Right now I'm still bedridden (sp?) with sciatica/lumbago and in excruciating pain.

I also prefer to read the entire story in one piece, Chrissie.

I’m sorry to hear that you are bedridden with sciatica/lumbago and hope that your pain will soon ease.

I too prefer to read stories in one piece. I suppose, strictly speaking, your story wasn't a continuation novel, Rob, as Barney's father was still to be found! Maybe more of a prequel, although that isn't really an accurate description. Maybe Courtenay or Daisy can come up with the correct word!

Having said that, it was a good read - as are all of the follow-on stories on the site. Even if there are the occasional inaccuracies, all have entertained me well. Those who turn up their noses at out weekly serials are losing out on some great works of fiction.

I have heard the words "fill-in" as a description of such books - like "Kitty of St Clare's" by Pamela Cox.

With my bad memory I would waste too much time every week to re-read the previous chapter, but when I read the entire story in one session/sitting, I really can enjoy it much more.

Eddie, I'm now in bed for 7 days, just force myself downstairs once a day around noontime to let Cody outside in the garden for 10 minutes. The poor dog. He's in his crate all day long. André takes him for long walks every morning and at night, but in-between he has to stay in his crate.

Don't worry Chrissie... I'm so sorry to hear you are still in such pain. I hope being able to come on here helps to pass the time and maybe take your mind of your pain. Get well soon.

As I’ve said before, I suffer with back pain and so I know what you’re going through. I hope you’ll soon be feeling better, Chrissie.

It is also worth pointing out that a large majority of Society members aren't forumites! I know that there are several members who read the weekly serial who have no interest at all in the forums.

Thanks Tony - yes, I recall you saying that! Anyway I'm glad everyone who has commented enjoyed my story!

You're right Nigel, I guess strictly speaking Rawlins' reach wasn't a continuation novel as such - it was meant to fit between 'Ring )'Bells' and 'Rubadub'. :-)

I'm now trying to think of any 'occasional inaccuracies' I might have made!
