Hilarious Debbie.

I hope no serious, fanatical collectors were taken in by that and duped! :D

I can't help thinking that if any auctioneer is really serious about getting the best exposure/ price they would surely do some basic research - Enid Blyton Society - maybe they might interested...

Debbie wrote: 31 May 2023, 15:55 The funniest ebay I saw on that front was one who described a fairly ordinary Find Outers book as something like: "This is an absolutely amazing discovery. It's by Enid Blyton and about 5 children doing detective work so it must be a prequel to the Famous Five. I've never heard of a prequel to the Famous Five so this must be super rare."
Oh dear...  :x Quite apart from the general ignorance of Enid's other works, whoever wrote that clearly hadn't read any Famous Five books either, or they would know that the Famous Five are not five children!!!

I can't remember seeing any eBay blurbs of quite that level of stupidity, but I have seen very ordinary and sometimes tatty modern paperbacks priced at £80-90 or even over £100, simply because they're Enid Blyton and so they must obviously be a collector's item...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

After looking very closely I discovered 'Up the Faraway Tree' in dust-jacket in lot 215. At 40 pounds one of the bargains.
