Post by IceMaiden »

Sure someone was asking about a copy of this the other day? Here's a nice one for £5:

That was me, IceMaiden, and here I am noticing your post only two weeks later  ... it was still there and I've bought it! Thank you!! :D (I've been very busy lately and haven't given the EBS forums much of a look-in, but this goes to show why I really should drop by more often. )

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Why "only just made it" — was the listing ending soon? (I didn't notice if so.)

I'm surprised no-one snapped it up earlier, as it was a bargain price! (Mind you, I still remember when you could pick up books like that for 50c or less at op shops — Aussie for charity shops — and I'm sure for similar prices over here as well... )

Well you posted above at 22:01, Courtenay and if you look at the link in the original post by IceMaiden it says "Ended: 29 Jun, 2022 22:06:26 BST" so I thought you had only bid just before your post, which was 5 minutes before that.

Oh, I see. I did buy it just before I posted here but it was a little longer before I got the confirmation that the seller had received my payment, perhaps because it was late at night. That might explain the slight delay before the listing was officially ended. It was a "buy it now", not an auction. I haven't done any bidding on eBay for ages — I prefer things you can just buy on the spot. Much less stressful!

Ah! so it wasn't an auction then. That explains why I thought your 'bid' was JIT. :D

Glad you got it Courtenay! I like bidding on ebay but my problem is I usually only remember about it around two minutes after it's ended :x. Buy it now or best offer is as you say far less stressful!
