Hmmm, yes, pushing it a bit, but certainly in better condition than that copy of Five on a Treasure Island...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
This is just a guess Judith, but I wondered if the seller is trying to explain that the book was originally published in 1943 but this edition is a 10th edition 1964 reprint?
A photo of the internal from the seller showing the publication data of this book would be helpful!

Yes, Judith I am quite interested to see what it eventually goes for. I think there's one or two sellers on ebay selling the first three books of this series 1950's and 1960's oops - 1960s editions for around £270!

I wonder if someone is buying them all up to control the market and raise the overall prices - or have I been watching too much James Bond!!
Perhaps it's Moonraker.

Well, Pete, I can only conclude that I've been retired too long. That Adventuring Again just seems to me a rather shabby copy of an edition of no significance. However I realize that the 1964 Magic Faraway Tree has a nice jacket and seems a very good copy, as does the other one. I had a look at my copy and it turns out to be one of the very few Blyton's I didn't sell all those years ago - which means that the 10/6, which the jacket said I paid for it, was pocket-money funds - five and a quarter weeks worth. The book has my name stamp on it (the right way up, too). It is the 'Sixth Australian Edition 1956'. Bonus - it's still got the dust-jacket!
Three years ago I bought the other two full-length Faraway Tree titles in good dustwrappers, one for £19 and one for £12 (one was from Rob Houghton), but The Magic Faraway Tree was more pricey even then and I still haven't been able to obtain a Newnes edition.

One thing, Anita, about Enid Blyton is that no one can ever say for sure 'my collection is complete'. Even when you decide to confine yourself to this series, or that cut-off date, something else irresistible bobs up. I do hope a nice dust-jacketed copy of Dorothy Wheeler's illustrated 'The Magic Faraway Tree' graces your shelves in the not-too-distant future. I've kept my eyes open for non-Blyton Dorothy Wheeler illustrations and have a number which gladden my heart.
