The spine of book is damaged and the back cover has come away, front page has come away but still there and the front cover has marks all over please look at pictures.
For the age of the book the rest of the pages are in good condition.
I wouldn't even put a book in that condition on my bookshelf within my own collection.
I think some sellers think because it's Blyton, or any other collectable author that collectors will pay silly money, but a book is only worth what a person is prepared to pay.
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.
"See that? It's the black Bentley again. KMF 102!"
Well I'd happily take any book if someone paid me £30 to have it.
I'm a bit confused about it being a 1st edition though, as it shows that it was reprinted in 1942. I seem to recall there is a book with a query over the date of the 1st edition. Does anyone know if that's the one, or has the seller made a mistake and is trying to sell a reprint?
First edition and subsequent impressions can be misleading! It could be a first edition, but second impression. To have any real value it needs to be a first edition and not a reprinted impression. Mind you, in that condition and without a jacket, I would have thought 50p to be overpriced.
The first book appeared in September 1942 (dated August 1942) and was so popular that it was reprinted almost immediately in September and October of the same year. The book was illustrated by Eileen Soper, who was to illustrate all 21 titles, and whose drawings were so 'just right'..
This quote from Stella & Rose was doing so well until the glaring oversight of Betty Maxey crept in..
" A kind heart always brings its own reward," said Mrs. Lee.

I wouldn't give them 30p for that mess, true first or not!
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

It looks as though it's been dropped in the sea off Kirrin Island and retrieved by Timmy!
I was just going to say, I reckon that copy must have been found on the wreck after it washed up from the floor of Kirrin Bay!!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
