IceMaiden very kindly alerted me to the ebay sale of this book. It is the book that sparked my lifelong love affair with Enid Blyton.

But, at the moment bidding has reached £17.99 and I have been outbid.

Should I bid more - how much would it then go for?

Although I am looking for a copy of this book - the hardback edition, I did not think it would be so expensive!
Difficult choices ahead.

The only negative my heart is telling me is that the version I was given as a child was the paperback version.
It contained the Betty Maxey external and had the Eileen Soper internals.

You can see why I am a mixed up kid when it comes to these two illustrators - they both captured my heart at the same time...

Thanks Sire!

Can you round up 17 of your chums and and get them to chip in a pound each - I think that's the only way I'm going to be able to afford this beauty!

No IceMaiden.

It went for about £20 all in. I backed off as I got the impression the other person bidding was willing to go much higher than I could afford.
I must say I am surprised the book went for such a decent price.
I will have to stop listening to Nigel's expert Maxey evaluations!

So the search goes on...

That's a shame Pete ☹️.

I'm surprised it went to that price though, I've seen those editions go for £3-4. I bet the seller didn't think it would go for much either, a pity you couldn't have done a best offer, I find that can sometimes work better than bidding.
