370 Enid Blyton books to sell

Post by yannick »

Since my childhood, I collect all the Enid Blyton’s books in French.
I started my collection in English for about fifteen years I started acquiring over 370 books from Enid Blyton, having completed all the collections, most of them with blankets, as with the Famous Five, Secret Seven etc, Five Fine Outers… I have first editions and others quite rare, like Happy House 1 and 2
I also have original records, 33s and 45s, and toys; Noddy in foam from the 50s, 60s, small cars, a puppet with its case etc ...
Obviously I spent a small fortune for the great pleasure of a child.

I'll have to move to Brazil in a few months, probably to stay there permanently. I cannot take all my books with me, because the humidity level where I would go is around 80% during periods of rain, which means that the books even protected would be deteriorated due to the climate and insects which contaminate the books by landing on them and putting eggs, larves.

I must therefore abandon my books, because it would be absurd to see them deteriorate unnecessarily. My wish would be that they return to their country and be kept by Enid Blyton’s members or collector. People who preserve this memory and that this heritage is not lost.

Due to the quantity of books, some 370 without forgetting the two large boxes of foam Noddy, small cars, originals etc ... a shipment is not possible.

It would be interesting if someone could pick them up from the UK to France.
I live 200 km below Paris, in a city called Le Mans. Let's say that the Calais Le Mans the distance is 424km and a 4h30 drive by highway

Being in the process of preparing for my move, I therefore moved my Endi Blyton from my library to my garage which is always dry and which gives an idea of the quantity of books and objects.

I would like at least to recover a sum for all of the books and materials which would be around 600 euros. Which represents little, compared to the purchase.

So if you are interested or a member of the Blytons’s society, I am at your disposal.

I send you a list of my books
In another mail I'll send you by we transfert fotos. Archive is too heavy by mail

Please accept, Sir, my best regards.

I'm a little surprised no-one has bitten on this, but perhaps most collectors want detailed information on any books they may buy. (I certainly do, as I am looking for specific versions of books. Perhaps not quite a specific edition, but certainly within a particular (early-ish) time of publication.)
How many of the 370 are in French, and how many in English?
Can people selectively buy books, or is it being sold as a single lot of 370 books? I'm guessing few will want the latter.
Also, I guess it'll be a big problem for many if it's only pick-up. Probably impossible for anyone outside France.

Regards, Michael.

Hi Michael, Yannick has very kindly sent me details of the books. These are all in English. The French books have been distributed elsewhere.

I am certainly interested in the lot, and have identified a quantity of books I don't already have, but there are also some in the list that would be duplicates of those in my own collection.

I wonder if anyone else would be interested in sharing the lot, if there are several that they'd like, and the cost could be split?

I'm in the east of England, so the travel would be 7 and a half hours for me, which isn't too much, but travel restrictions (quarantining for 14 days upon return) are difficult for me as I return to working at my workplace imminently.

The set of Enid Blyton's books has been sold. Over 300 books, as well as 45 pm and 33 pm records, toys, puppets, games, originals.
Everything will be sent by post. The whole lot returns to Great Britain and will be preserved by a collector.
All the material of the books has been scanned (over 300 books in English), in order to preserve the cultural heritage of Enid Blyton and in respect to her memory. The 260 books of Enid Blyton published in French were also scanned.
