HANDWRITTEN Signed Postcard Correspondence (NOT A Print)

Post by HargreavesQuebec »

A handwritten postcard from Enid Blyton to my Great Grandmother sent July 1966.

My Great Grandmother had been searching for a Christmas Stories book for her Granddaughter (my Mother) and couldn't find it anywhere. She decided to write to the publishers, enquiring if it was still in print. Instead of a reply from the publishers, she received this handwritten response from Enid Blyton herself on a Noddy and Big Ears postcard! Sadly, the book had gone out of print, but Enid promised to forward a copy should she ever come across one.

My family are now looking to sell the postcard, but before I posted it on eBay, I thought I would give the folks here a chance to enquire. Here are a few images (sorry for poor quality photographs) http://imgur.com/a/5WpiY.

If anyone is interested, please feel free to email me anthonyleach@live.co.uk.

Thanks

I don't know if it is just on the photo that you have blocked out the name and address, or if this is actually on the postcard itself. If this is so I'm afraid you have greatly reduced the value and it may be very difficult to sell as very few potential buyers would want a postcard that has been defaced in this way.

I would hope it's just on the photo. The eBay listing links to more pictures, and in one of them under the circular postmark you can see the name, Mrs Hargreaves possibly.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Yes, I would say it is 'photoshopped' as Fiona says, the name is clearly to be seen on one of the photos.

Looks great to add to any collection, if you've got a spare £10. :|

You would not get it for £10, Julie, it has a reserve on it!

I put a £20 bid in to test the waters, and still, the reserve price hasn't been met! Why don't sellers put the starting price at the lowest price they are prepared to accept?

The minimum reserve on eBay, as far as I know, is £50 :|

The Sunny Stories booklets are a snip at £3 each including postage. There is only one left on ebay at present, but you can see the sort of price that is asked for the originals.

We are at cross purposes here. I am talking about Sunny Stories for Little Folks from the 1920s. The ones with coloured covers are extremely scarce and you certainly aren't going to find any for 99p! Despite being on the look out for 25 years I haven't got any of them in my own collection as those few that do turn up are well out of my price range!

That one isn't even by Enid Blyton, hence the price!!
