Re: General Natter Room.

My daughter and I have just watched Slumdog Millionaire on DVD. A powerful and original film which kept us hooked, though it was hard to watch in places because of the terrible suffering portrayed. I remembered that a few people had commented on this film in the past, including the following remark...

Re: Cricket, anyone ?

Welcome back, PM. I trust that, as usual, you did well in your exams. :D ‘Aurélien Arkadiusz’ 8) We don't know the results just yet. Everything will be revealed in the first week of November. Oddly enough, I'm not that afraid - one can only be afraid if he/she hasn't done well, and I think I'm not ...

Re: Cricket, anyone ?

...if you lived in India, cricket is quite close to a religion and I would guess that it is much the same in Sri Lanka.: Speaking as an Indian, I must agree. Here in Mumbai all the residents are cricket fanatics. That new IPL - whatever that is - has only stimulated the interest. I am a cricket neu...

Re: Monthly Quiz

Welcome back, Philip. :) I hope you have enjoyed your schoolwork during the past couple of months. Have you taken any recent exams? Our August exams were cancelled due to the swine flu pandemic. Now exams begin from September 29..... Enjoyed schoolwork? Well, some things were great, some not so ver...

Re: Monthly Quiz

Good to see you back, Phil, we've missed you! :D That's nice to hear! In the last two/three months I've been more busy than ever before with my schoolwork. I still find time to log in and read some posts, but posting itself is a problem! Still, today's a holiday - for goodness knows what - and here...

Re: Monthly Quiz

Wow, I just played this month's quiz and I think it was the hardest for me ever! I don't think I've read even one book on which the questions were. Thanks to my guessing abilities (no, ahem - just dumb luck), I was able to get 23, a pretty high score for me! Currently in 2nd place. Not sure for how ...

Re: Anybody using Ubuntu?

I use Windows Vista - it's much more pleasing on the eye. In my opinion, it's better than XP, and it's a lot faster as well. Especially in graphics I think it's better. I also like the interface, and the new versions of programmes we've been using for years such as IE, games, etc. (Even though I use...

Re: Journal 39

A great journal. I especially enjoyed John Lester's article on Five on Kirrin Island Again , but there were many more which were great. Anita's article on Mr. Pink-Whistle, Robert Houghton's article on The Children of Kidillin , Terry Gustafson's article on humour, David Cook's on 'Strange Bundle': ...

Re: Sporting forumites!

The sport I can play best is definitely football - I'm a pretty average defender but I've saved some goals. Cricket? I always hated bowling. Batting I could do well though. :D As for a running race, just don't ask me. I always keep with the front runners for a few moments and then steadily drop behi...

Re: Agatha Christie

I really loved The ABC Murders and Murder on the Orient Express: my favourite Christies. I also liked Appointment with Death.

My least favourite Christie is 'Curtain' no doubt. The ending was just so unsatisfying.

Re: Agatha Christie

Arabs and foreigners... hmm, I think that's the common idea in the books. It's not just 'Cat in the Pigeons'. One such book is 'Dumb Witness' (one of her lesser novels) in which the main character, Emily Arundell, hates foreigners, especially Greeks and Turks. I just can't understand why do they nee...

Re: February 2009 - site moved to new server

A very, very late update on the dustwrapper issue. It's finally become right, because my desktop (freshly repaired despite being so old!) has become faster. The internet speed remains the same, though - 0.17 mbps for uploads and downloads both. But it still, the new processor which we have bought is...

It's Mr King to Miss Pepper, when Snubby mentions whether Loony can attend classes or not

Not 100% sure, though!
