Re: Blyton References on TV

Here's a bit of an esoteric one, from Japan. The anime "Little Witch Academia" is set in a fictionalised version of Glastonbury in Somerset, the in-universe version of the town rejoicing in the name of 'Blytonbury'!

Re: 1970s series incidental music.

One track I've wanted to hear for some time was the one that starts at 6:15 in the following clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdy2KDzVRm8&feature=PlayList&p=12D9EEC026666E2B&index=20" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Those funky tones always appealed to me XD Is...

Re: Michele Gallagher

I must say that I was hoping that Michelle was still alive, but recent events drove home the finality of her passing for me. Her performance as George in the 70s show (which I discovered in the 90s) was an absolute delight and moved me deeply, and the troubles she later went through, and her death, ...

Cheers man - I was going to upload it, but you beat me to the punch! :)

Nb:
Anyone had any luck locating Drama Montage 2, as there's a chance it might have other F5 cues on it

Re: Second World War

Julian did make an oblique reference to the war in Camp I remember. But although not mentioned, WW2 did provide the basic plot for many of Blyton's works. Theft of planes and documents notwithstanding, how many times (especially in books written in the 40s and early 50s) do we see her heroes defeati...

Re: The FF Adventure you would like to have seen written?

What FF Adventures do you wish Enid Blyton had written? I have always thought that Five On a Narrow Boat would have been a great story - probably due to my love of canals and narrow boats! I'd also have liked to have seen another Christmas Adventure set in Kirrin and Kirrin Farm re-visited. I heart...

Re: Why did they start calling themselves The Famous Five?

This was something I also wondered about, and I found it interesting how the 70s TV adaption lampshaded it by having them coin the name at the end after being praised by a police officer who used the word 'famous' in describing them (if I remember right). In the context of the books, I'd guess that ...

Re: 1970s series incidental music.

Cheers guys, hope this link works for you So, here's Drama Montage Volume 1 , a library of music composed by Brian Bennett for Bruton Music. Alongside the familiar tune Getaway (a classic that we've all heard before), I recognise a lot of F5 background music, however what stands out most for me are ...

Re: 1970s series incidental music.

Sorry to reopen this but I was able to obtain a mp3 encoding of an LP selection of Brian Bennett's library music which contains a lot of cues from our beloved show. Since this is no longer commerically availible I reckon its OK to post the link, but I'd like it if I could get an OK from someone befo...

Re: Famous Five 90s Series

Billycock Hill was one of the episodes that I never saw 'properly' when it aired. I have vague recollections that at the time my family were visiting some other part of Britain and that having missed one part I was reduced to watching the other on a small screen in a hotel room, which wasn't exactly...

My word - I've been away far too long. I mean to come back to find this is mindblowing, and an honour! :D Regarding what Mr Crispin has (incredibly generously) told us, here's an annotated aerial photo of Marchwood http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c345/Thunderbird3/Marchwood5.jpg" onclick=&quo...

Re: The New Famous Five

When I clicked that link and heard the song, I think part of my soul died ... However, some of the stuff there shows promise - the trailer I'm a bit 'iffy' on, but at least the writing seems to be reasonably sharp - the idea of Timmy beating Max in a board-game is quite amusing. Interesting that the...

Re: Famous Five 90s Series

A way around that though is to get the DVD, because the DVD's only lacking feature is the lask of Smugglers top! Hehe - got a copy of the Dutch box-set in the post the other day and noticed the absence of Smuggler's Top off the bat - peeved me a bit but thankfully the episode can be seen online. A ...
