Re: New 'Enid Blyton World' attraction in Beaconsfield?

Thanks to those who have signed the e-petition. And could I put in a plea for those of you who haven't to spend a few seconds adding your name. http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/create-enid-blytons-enchanted-world-in-beaconsfield.html So far, only 47 signatures - so not bad... but not great either...

Re: New 'Enid Blyton World' attraction in Beaconsfield?

The point is that, as yet, there are no 'ins and outs' - more a blank piece of paper (if that isn't a mixed metaphor! :? ) South Bucks District Council and Beaconsfield Town Council (which these days has parish council status only) are openly looking for ideas for something to do with the old Town H...

Re: New 'Enid Blyton World' attraction in Beaconsfield?

Gosh! So many concerns already (logo, tacky etc.) when really all it is at the moment is a notion. The project is certainly embryonic enough for everyone (and, I would suggest, especially contributors to this forum) to have a positive say on what the eventual look and feel of the attraction might be...

Re: Pub With Enid Blyton Connections Named One Of UK's Finest

I had already been invited by a member of the Beaconsfield Society to have an Enid Blyton Society stand on May 26th, but it is unfortunately close to the Enid Blyton Day. If I can get to Beaconsfield that day I may well come, but I don't think I will be able to bring all the things that would be ne...

Re: Pub With Enid Blyton Connections Named One Of UK's Finest

I am pretty certain that I read an article about this some weeks ago as I remember raising an eyebrow when I read that the library had been donated by the Enid Blyton Society! Hi Tony, You can lower your eyebrow - the library of books was indeed donated by members of the Society following an appeal...

Beaconsfield wants to celebrate Enid Blyton

Following two recent articles in local newspapers, it seems the townsfolk of Beaconsfield are keen to do more to recognise its most famous ever resident (and about time too, I hear you say!). Suggestions range from adding a 'Welcome To Beaconsfield Home of Enid Blyton' to the four main signs enterin...

Re: Enid Blyton Day 2009

Moonraker - our Nigel - is renowned for his 'blunt-spoken' postings here.....for making challenging statements, and asking awkward questions.....but this is not always a bad thing.....and I don't see his posts as malicious . Neither should his very many positive contributions be overlooked. ‘Auréli...

They are a group from Germany and Holland - I don't see that I should have to tell you their names.

That Red Lion programme sounds mighty attractive for anyone staying overnight in the area.
Thanks for the vote of support Lucky Star. After the extremely disappointing remarks from Moonraker, it is very much appreciated!

Re: Enid Blyton Day 2009

There's already a group of forumites definitely coming so it will be a fantastic way to kick off the weekend. Hmm; which of us intends to go to that then? It is rather strange that none of you have mentioned this on the forum? The cynic in me wonders if this is a bit of a marketing ploy.......

Re: Enid Blyton Day 2009

First, apologies for not posting for a while, but have been busy setting up a new television production company and, as you can imagine, it has taken up a lot of my time. Our 'Enid Blyton Room' at The Red Lion, Knotty Green, near the former site of Green Hedges in Beaconsfield, continues to thrive. ...
