Re: TV Programmes

I don't have a lot of time to watch TV as I work four nights a week. I love watching all Westerns with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood being my favourite'. Also I love Mid Sommer Murders. Also any history programme especially if Alice Roberts is the expert presenter. Went to see at Theatre Severn Shre...

Re: Ancestry - Family History

I live about 400 yards from Owain Glyndwr's birth place Sycharth near the village of Llansilin. All you can see today is a mound of earth and the remains of where the moat would have been. It is still worth a visit just for the history of the place.

Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?

I'm reading books by Carol Drinkwater at the moment. Four books about her Olive farm in the South of France and two books a journey through the heart of the Mediterranean in search of the history of the Olive Tree. The first three books about her Olive Farm have been excellent reading. Well written ...

Re: Spring at last.

Yes its a shame that the Hare is now so rare. I saw one the other week but that was the first I'd seen for ages. I've lived in the countryside all my life and the Hare and the Lapwing and even the Curlew are not seen so often now.

Spring at last.

Is there anywhere in the world better than Old Blighty when you wake up to weather like this. Walked Paddy along the river this morning and everything was like a beautiful Blyton morning except there was no smell of an adventure anywhere. Cut all the lawns after a nice cup of coffee and off to give ...

Re: What Enid Blyton book are you reading right NOW!

I think the world is a much more violent place now than it was in the 40's,50's and 60's. (apart from the second world war). I was child of the 60's and early 70's and we could play and go about the countryside with out any fear. And our parents did not have to worry all the time. Yes we had punishm...

Re: Learning Welsh (and Other Languages)

Its nice\ to see so many people interested in learning Welsh or any language. I speak welsh every day but I wish that I had put a bit more effort into learning a few more languages in school. I drive a school minibus every day full of welsh speaking children who speak better welsh than me, its great...

Re: Five Get into A Fix talking points

I also think Five get into a Fix is a good read and the location seems a fantastic place to be summer or winter. The story lines do get weaker as the series goes on. My favourites are probably
1) five on a hike
2)Five in a caravan
3) Smugglers Top
4)Five get into trouble
5)Five go down to the sea.

Re: Preferred holiday destination.

There are to many lovely places in Enid's books to choose from, Spring Cottage (Castle) in Scotland would be bliss as would the lovely Welsh farm house in the mountain of adventure.

Re: Your first week's wages..

My first pay packet when I started my first job was £19. My first job was at Park Hall Army camp in Oswestry in 1975 cutting grass and hedges and keeping the camp tidy. I used to give my mum £8 for keep and the rest was mine. I'd buy clothes and L.P's from the disc shop and go to the cinema, and also...

Re: Julian - What do you think of him?

I know Julian comes across as bossy and arrogant, do you think it is because he's from an upper class family and that's the way they acted back then. Where as Jack and Philip in the adventure have a very poor family life and act in a more humble way. Jack and Philip share the responsibility more and...

R.I.P Mr Spock. Been a fan of the original Star Trek all my life and still watch the repeats today as well as the films. Have all the original series on dvd's as well as magazines that go with the series. Got my son hooked on Star Trek when he was young and now he has his sons hooked as well. End of...
