Re: Enid Blyton and Queen Elizabeth ll

Very interesting story. I always felt that Enid was very upper class. I remember as a child, I felt Enid Blyton was similar to the Queen.

Re: What makes you annoyed?

What is getting me annoyed at the moment, is the lack of customer service, while out shopping. Staff don't seem as helpful as back in the old days, maybe they are over worked, and under paid.

Re: Model Railway

I had a train set many years ago, as a small child. Over the years as an adult, I have often thought about getting a trainset.
Just the space needed, has put me off. But after seeing the video of a train in a suitcase, it got me thinking. :)

Re: R.I.P. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

To be honest, I never paid much attention to the Royal family. But the Queen was special, and it is indeed sad news.

The book (shown above) was in my car and I was doing a journey that took me right across the UK and I h...

They are safely tucked away in the cupboard, once I start rummaging about, I find something else of interest in there. :P

Re: I have not been on the forum for a while

Yes, I often have long absences but as Viv says, you can always return! I haven't read a Blyton for years now, and don't plan to in the immediate future, tearing through crime books during a 3-month Kindle Unlimited free trial! I will do my best to stick around this time, but I do tend to get side ...

Re: I have not been on the forum for a while

I do apologise for having to say this again, that I am back. Rather than start a new thread, I will simply add to the old one. I do hope it is OK. I have not devoted enough of my time to Enid's delicious offerings, my favourite being the Famous five. I have been pretty ill over the last few years, a...

Re: Five on a Treasure Island - a new review

A nice write up, on your thoughts on Five On A Treasure Island. I am re reading this book at the moment, and I am enjoying it at much as the first time I read it.

Nice little present for your son, hope he likes it as much as we all did. :D

Re: Secret Passages

I would love a secret passage in our house, I would love to hide from some visitors. I would jump out from my hiding place, and I would give them a fright. I do that with the grand children now, they love hiding on me, and giving me a fright. :-)

Re: Secret Passages

I really loved the secret passages and rooms in the famous five books. I remember the secret room in Five Get Into Trouble, I found it really fascinating. Enid certainly did have a liking for secret passages etc, I wonder where she got the idea from?

Re: What Enid Blyton book are you reading right NOW!

I am still making very slow progress on Five On, A Treasure Island. Not read it in years, but I started it a few days ago. I keep getting sidetracked by other things. I did not manage to read any of it, last night. :(

Re: Books - Read and Throw Away?

I did buy a very tatty famous five book many years ago, it was for pennies. It was meant as a read and throw away, as it was falling to bits. I think I may have kept it, just not sure where it is though.

Re: Finniston Farm: really quite poor

I do own a full set of famous five books, or rather a few sets. But I have not read them in a while. So I have started the first book, or rather a very slow start. I am going to read the whole series. I wait till I get to Finniston Farm, and see if it annoys me, like it did many years ago. I may fee...
