I'm tempted to say The secret Seven because the books were shorter and maybe aimed at a slightly younger reader ? Although you could argue that the volume of titles compensates ?

I remember reading this book at school similar to Emile And The Detectives.It was quite good.

Wasn't Emile and The Detectives by Erich Kästner the Grandaddy of Children detective stories and aren't a lot of Enid Blyton's books (fun as they are) derivative of this formula ?

Hasn't she always been criticized for talking down to children unlike Dahl were children were treated equal to adults ?
