I'm tempted to say The secret Seven because the books were shorter and maybe aimed at a slightly younger reader ? Although you could argue that the volume of titles compensates ?

Wasn't Emile and The Detectives by Erich Kästner the Grandaddy of Children detective stories and aren't a lot of Enid Blyton's books (fun as they are) derivative of this formula ?
