Re: What Enid Blyton book have you recently bought?
Bought a paperback copy of Up the Faraway Tree, from a second hand book store. Going to read it, for the first time. I hadn't realised that it was more a picture book, than a novel. It will be something new to try!

Re: What Enid Blyton book are you reading right NOW!
I read the find outers book, in order a few years ago. I think The adventure series and this series were the only ones I read in the correct order. I never warmed to Banshee towers much, partly because the setting seemed too different from the Peterswood of the earlier books. Fatty was rather condes...

Re: What Enid Blyton book are you reading right NOW!
I just finished reading The Very Big Secret, for the first time. I used to spend a lot of time, playing with stuffed toys, but I found Penny's reactions, rather extreme. I am guessing that the book is out of print now, as I really can't think of any way of making the bizarre story politically correc...

Re: Readathon - The Secret of Spiggy Holes
Having read the posts on the thread, I am inspired to read the book again. It has been many years since I read it, so it will be an adventure reading it. I will post my opinions about the book in a couple of days.

Re: Parents
I was trying to think of polar opposites and Mr. Jackson from "Family at Red-Roofs" and Mr. Farrell from "House-at-the-Corner" sprang to mind. Jimmy Brown's father is also warm and loving. Janet and Peters' father also seems to be a nice man. He does help the secret seven to tie...
Re: Parents
In the ring o bells mystery Mr Lynton's reaction to the news that his daughter was ill is surprising. He is only bothered about their not being out of his way and does not show any concern towards her. A strict parent is one thing but a parent who thinks providing care and concern at required times ...

Re: Adoption in Blyton books
I guess his relatives share the expenses for his school fee and so on by taking turns or something like that.
Or maybe his parents left him some money to pay for his schooling and so on.
This is just my imagination though!

This is a website for discussing blyton's books which were written for children. Read them, enjoy them and re read them. If you start dissecting every paragraph written you will not enjoy what you are reading. Also I feel There is no point in saying "the world is so bad and that is the truth&qu...
