Re: Mystery of the Pantomime Cat

I loved the mystery series when I was 8. Now as a 45 year old, I still love them. I am not crazy about the first two Mysteries as the characters were still developing at that stage and Banshee Towers is not very strong, but not positively dreadful either. From Secret Room to Strange Messages, this s...

Re: I life long ambition fulfilled

Thanks for your kind words Chrissie! I have a read a few Famous Five, but they lack the humour of the FFO, so do not hold my attention. In fact, I have ONLY read the FFO series! (many times over) My wife has now read the complete series of Malory Towers and St Clares as they are "girly" bo...

Re: Mystery of the Hidden House

Fatty definitely went to a different school to the others. In fact, I think maybe only Larry and Pip went to the same school. Bets went to school in the village on her own and Daisy went elsewhere (to a girls school). Fatty was prone to boast...possibly exaggerate, but not outright lie. Hidden House...

Re: Re:

Agree 100% and have stated the same in this forum some years ago. Throw in Mystery of the Strange Messages as well. Cosy, atmospheric, dark, mysterious! I loved them as a kid, and I love those particular mysteries now as an adult...though, to be fair, other than Banshee Towers and the dreadful Disap...

A life long ambition fulfilled

I am an Enid Blyton fan since I first read the Fatty Mystery Series as an 8 year old, many, many moons ago. I introduced my wife to the Fatty Mystery Series, and she loved them and became a Blyton fan straight away. As well as the original run Mystery Series set, we also now have a full set of both ...

Re: Find-outers Aussie Police need your help

Australians, on a whole, have no practical experience of dealing with Gypsies. The English variety mentioned in that article are moderate compared to the Central and Eastern European varients. Having said that, the Eastern European Gypsies I have dealt with here in Melbourne have been largely good. ...

In response to your question Ming, my wife answered:

"All of them so far!"

You cannot argue with that!

The True Test - The FFO from an outsider's perspective

Hi guys. I have been a life long fan of the Five Findouters and I can pick up the books at any time and always enjoy reading them. I get the same joy out of reading Asterix and Tintin as well. Just recently, I got my wife to start reading the FFO series to see if she as an adult first time reader wo...

Re: Five Find-Outers Sequel

It is all over the internet. It was published without my permission. It was an unfinished manuscript - at best. I most certainly have never been paid - not that it would have earned much and not that I need a couple of dollars. It just shows you that people will act in their interest and disregard ...

Re: Five Find-Outers Sequel

I can understand how you feel. A decade ago, I submitted an unfinished manuscript to a publisher. Life got in the way and I didn't finish teh manuscript, though I did add considerably more than what was presented to the publisher. Anyways, a copuple of years later I find that it has been published w...

Stunned.

Utterly stunned.

It goes to show that there are some seriously disturbed people in this world.

This reprobate deserves all the heat he is getting.

Cheers,

Growing up in Melbourne Australia in the 1970's we called this game "He" at my primary school.

I grew up in a heavily Irish Catholic neighbourhood.

Re: Second World War

Boys growing up in the 1950's, 60's and 70's avidly devoured war comics. We were all fully conversant with the events of World War 2 and could probably identify just about every type of WW2 aircraft, ship, tank and other weapons. 30 years after the war ended, the average British schoolboy still had...
