Re: Cadbury Chocolate poll
I like good old Dairy MIlk and Flake. I'm glad that I am not the only person that seems to associate Chocolate with Enid Blyton! The characters in her books always seem to be munching on delicious food and chocolate - and for me the dairy milk chocolate is the only one that I like :) And I agree wit...

Re: Journal 45
This is the first Journal that I have read and I absolutely love it! I have wanted to join the Enid Blyton Society for ages and now that I've finally settled down in one place after moving around quite a lot in the past four years, the first thing I did was become a member - and I'm very very glad t...

Re: New authors of the Famous Five and Secret Seven etc
Did anyone else write their own Famous Five stories etc. when they were small (or now)? I remember writing my own Famous Five stories when I was 5 or 6. I wish I could find those notebooks again but unfortunately I'm certain that they are long gone.

Re: Ever named a pet after a character in EB`s books???
I named my dog Timothy Loony. He was a Wire Fox Terrier - so very similar to Enid Blyton's Bobs. I lost him last month - at the ripe old age of 14. I also named my dad's dog Rollo after Mischief at St Rollo's - although I have never managed to find a copy of that book, I like the title. My dog is a ...

Re: Jane Austen?
I do agree - I think he found her refreshing but it isn't a sort of sweeping love story. Although at the same time I do enjoy that - it really feels so everyday. But the wedding etc. is all sort of squashed in at the end - it feels all very inconsequential... so I still felt rather unsatisfied

Re: DVD Release of the '57 and '64 Famous Five Serials
I really loved the Five on A Treasure Island - I don't have Five have a mystery to solve yet. The only thing is that they seemed to do an awful lot of running around But I think it really conveyed the spirit of the books.

I always wished the old Famous Five club was still in existence. When I was little I even made my own badges for it.

Re: Jane Austen?
I read Northanger Abbey a couple of months ago - it left me feeling quite unsatisfied at the end. Henry seems to marry Catherine more because she liked him and all that trouble happened with his father rather than because he really liked her. Although in my idealistic imagination I like to think tha...

No - maybe I'll try. I read the Golden Galleon and a few others by Claude Voiler and wasn't too impressed, but always willing to try reading another book

Re: Agatha Christie
I love Agatha Christie. At the moment I am reading The Third Girl. I like it although I think that I prefer some of her earlier works... just because I prefer the 20s - 50s rather than the 60s. Although it is interesting because it kind of reflects Agatha Christie's perceptions on the changing times...

Re: Nancy Drew
I liked Nancy Drew as well - but not as much as Enid Blyton!
Although was nice as I got older because Nancy and her friends were older than the majority of Enid Blyton's characters. So it gave me some hope of still having adventures when I grew up

Re: New authors of the Famous Five and Secret Seven etc
I suppose that I am quite a purist... I'm not overly fond of the books written by other authors. I've got a few of them but they really didn't capture me in the same way that Enid Blyton's books did. I also really don't like how some of her books have been modernized.
