I think Block from the Famous five was pretty clever - I am not sure I could pretend to be deaf as convincingly as he does.

I am not sure I have ever read Banshee Towers. I certainly don't have a copy, and it doesn't really sound familiar. Not sure it sounds like ti is worth getting hold of, except to complete the set!

My Grandparents had a coal fire, with an electric fire they plugged in in front of it when it wasn't lit - sometimes it wasn't worth lighting a coal fire for just a short time.
