Re: Famous Five '78 series Memorabilia - UPDATED 130507 Page
Someone posted on these forums some years ago that Sue Best (Aunt Fanny) had passed away. At the time there was very little information about her online and no mention of her acting credits on sites like Imdb, other than The Famous Five. Glad to learn from Gary Russell in this thread that she's stil...

Re: The Castle Of Adventure Film, 1990
Was fascinating to finally learn the real reason behind Susan's departure. Also, interesting to note that her screen roles dwindled thereafter... I guess the acting industry doesn't easily forget those kind of diva antics!
Incidentally, the first episode went out thirty years ago today!

Re: The Castle Of Adventure Film, 1990
The villains being a bit too comical is the only thing that lets it down imo...apart from Aunt Jane's appearance of course (the story of which will be told in part two of the article). Exciting stuff, I can't wait. The change from Aunt Allie to Aunt Jane has long been shrouded in mystery...now we'l...

Re: The Castle Of Adventure Film, 1990
I remember this serial fondly from watching it as a child on its original showing. Despite its flaws (which are understandable, given that it was born out of necessity and suffered many production problems), I consider it to be by far the best Blyton dramatisation. I very much enjoyed Nick Hopkins' ...

Re: Sue MacGregor Interviews Enid Blyton
Seems it was an impromptu interview. MacGregor refers to it in her autobiography, 'condensed' version here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2002/mar/02/digestedread" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If she cheekily turned up unannounced on Enid's doorstep with a tape recorder,...

Re: 1970s series incidental music.
Here's 29 Bruton cues (inc. Halycon Days) as well as the theme previously posted here- everything in one file: http://www.mediafire.com/?itjkoqmokgi Wow! Thanks very much for this! I've quickly checked out all the tracks in it, and found the one I referred to that was in A Country Practice -it's ca...

Re: German "Famous Five" film in 2012
Sounds interesting although they are obviously taking some liberties with the storyline. The first holiday together would imply Five on a Treasure Island whereas the laboratory on the island implies Five on Kirrin Island Again . I expect they're doing as the '70s TV series did: adding elements of T...

Re: Photos of Enid
Anita has said what I was about to. In the past it was not uncommon for pictures to be taken in colour and for prints to be struck in both colour and black and white, depending on what the publication buying them wanted. Today, colour printing costs have come down considerably and everything is done...

Re: Photos of Enid
Thanks for the interview link, Kenneth. Pity I didn't understand what the guy was asking, and Enid spoke so quietly, I could hardly hear. Interesting to see the great lady in action! Really annoying that French subtitles weren't used, instead of drowning out Enid's words. I gave up half-way through...

Re: Some Photos of Enid I hadn't Seen :)
It's refereshing to see some some spontaneous newspaper shots, instead of the usual meticulously posed publicity ones. The wheelchair photograph looks a bit 'paparazzi' like, as does this one: http://www.topfoto.co.uk/FotoWeb/FWbin/preview.dll/Sp003426.jpg?D=2A24F6DC2E3757844BEFFECCD87C8CB79A4B54983...

Re: The Story of My Life
I question the validity of Gordon's claim. He says that he still has the book (and presumably wants to sell it), yet only thinks that "the page with publisher's dates and details etc at the front was torn out". (In fact, the publication date wasn't given in the book, which I believe was a ...

Re: Enid Blyton's Birthday Party 2010
Perhaps some people feel put off going inside your shop, or staying in there, because it's so small? I often feel uncomfortable in small shops - I get claustrophobic! - especially in book shops, where browsing is vital but cannot easily be done in cramped conditions and with a shopkeeper watching yo...

Re: Some Photos of Enid I hadn't Seen :)
Yet another reason why updating a period work is futile! Yes, although I suspect there's more to it than that. Fashions, technology and cultural trends seem to have changed far less in the last fifteen years than in the previous fifteen. So even if the 90s FF *had* been set in the 90s, I doubt it w...

Re: Some Photos of Enid I hadn't Seen :)
Only Jemima has really continued in acting (and done very well for herself!), while the others have faded into obscurity. Paul Child has plodded on a bit since FF, with some small 'guest' parts here and there, the most recent being in a short film a couple of years ago. He played four different char...
