A great blast from the past, Stephen! 'Love is Like Oxygen' has always reminded me of some of ELO's songs.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Hey, I was listening to that the other day too! :D 8) (Back in Australia, for quite a few years it was the theme tune for the sports news on Channel 7.)

Cuddly Dudley - Lots More Love

https://www.dropshots.com/Domino43/date ... 4/21:31:45" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He was born Dudley Heslop in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1924 (though he often claimed he was much younger). In 1947, he came to Britain and acted in West End plays and sang with various bands (including Sid Milward's Nit Wits). He turned to rock 'n' roll in the mid-1950s and was eventually promoted as 'Bristol's answer to The Big Bopper'. He secured a residency on the 'Oh Boy' TV show. (I bet Eddie remembers him.)
This was the 'B' side to his record, 'Later'. He is backed by Harry Robinson and his Orchestra (better known as Lord Rockingham's XI) and the label simply says 'with vocal chorus', but it is unmistakably The Vernons Girls. He never made the charts.
He retired from the music business in the mid-1960s and died in 2011.

I had dinner this evening in a rustic pub in Lacock (Wiltshire), where they were playing some not-so-rustic music... rather annoying until this came on — a really good love song I haven't heard for years: Snow Patrol — Chasing Cars

And then a little later came this one, which is appropriate for the time of year: David Essex — A Winter's Tale

A great track, Dave. :D I posted it on the forums earlier this year on 3rd April:

Another great track that used up more than a few sixpences in the summer of 1958 was Ooh! My Soul by the incredible Little Richard. It only managed to dent the hit parade peaking at number 22, but it deserved a much higher chart placing.

Sorry about the repeat, Eddie. I did try a general search on 'Little Richard' but missed it, because it insists on showing all the times 'little' and/or 'Richard' are mentioned, which are a lot. I should have searched on your posts only; then I would have found it.

No apology needed, Dave. It’s a great track and well worth repeating. :D

Aw - that's been a favourite of mine ever since it came out.

Just listened to Meat Loaf - 'For Crying Out Loud'. Sheer brilliance. Bat Out of Hell is an amazing album.

I was discussing this at work today. Possibly a contender for the worst ever Christmas song...

I do love the original versions, but not when they do this to them!
