Re: Last Song You Listened To
It is indeed, Number 6. He wrote and recorded many great songs and was hugely influential in the world of rock ‘n’ roll music.
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

Lys Gauty - À Paris dans Chaque Faubourg
https://www.dropshots.com/Domino43/date ... 5/22:11:44" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
She was born Alice Bonnefoux Gauthier in Levallois-Perret, France, in 1900. She originally wanted to sing opera but became a music-hall and cabaret singer and began recording in 1927. She became very popular. In 1940, after a tour of South America, she returned to France, then occupied by the Germans. She was questioned by the Gestapo, as her husband was Jewish. Under duress, she agreed to perform in Germany for the duration of the War. Afterwards, she was condemned by the Resistance as a collaboratrice, and survived an assassination attempt. She died in 1994.
This song (which translates as "In Paris in Every Suburb") was featured in the 1933 film, "Quatorze Juillet", directed by René Clair.
Wal-Berg was the stage-name of Voldemar Rosenberg, who was the musical director of Polydor Records in France when this record was made.

Always the Sun... The Stranglers.
Just secured the final concert tickets for their entire UK tour next March. I'll be off to every gig, which has been an ambition of mine for many a long year!

Marvin Rainwater - Whole Lotta Woman
https://www.dropshots.com/Domino43/date ... 3/23:11:45" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He was born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1925. His father was half Cherokee.
He originally trained as a classical pianist, but he lost part of his right thumb in a machinery accident, so was unable to continue. After a spell in the US Navy, he formed a country band and began writing songs. In 1957 he had a hit with "Gonna Find Me a Bluebird" (US No: 18). (This was covered in the UK by Petula Clark, but it wasn't a hit). In 1958 he started performing rockabilly and topped the UK charts with "Whole Lotta Woman". After a few follow-up records, he was diagnosed with throat cancer. He recovered from this eventually, but never regained his success. He died of heart failure in 2013.

Hayden Thompson - Love My Baby
https://www.dropshots.com/Domino43/date ... 4/22:24:15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He was born in Booneville, Mississippi, in 1938. He formed a band called the Southern Melody Boys, who had one record released by the small local Von Records. He then became vocalist with the Slim Rhodes Band for a time. In 1956 he cut a few sides for Sun Records, including this one, on which Jerry Lee Lewis (yet to record his own records) played piano. It wasn't released until September 1957. Sam Phillips did not promote the record and it flopped. Hayden later recorded for several other smaller labels, but none of his records were promoted. In 1975 he quit the music business and became a limousine driver. In 1984 he was persuaded to embark on a European tour. He was amazed to find that not only was he playing before large audiences but also that they knew his songs from rockabilly compilation albums which had been released.
