Thanks, for reviewing on Waterstones too, Eddie. It all helps.
I see I have 6 lovely reviews now, one from an Amazon customer.

I've put mine on Waterstones as well, Julie. Seems funny to me that both they and Amazon allow you to review products you didn't actually buy from them... theoretically I could go in and post bogus reviews (maybe really nasty ones, too) of books I haven't actually read. But I wouldn't, of course.

I thought you had to buy too, Courtenay, but that seems not to be the case.
Apparently with Waterstones it depends on the store manager if they want to keep stock of a certain book. New author's they're reluctant to keep as they don't know how they'll sell, that's why you can order, as it may not yet be in stock.
So I guess every good review on Waterstones website about a new book, is what makes the managers decide to stock.

Yes, that's what I was figuring as well. Hopefully if enough of us write good reviews, some of the managers will start noticing and think this one might be worth having in the store...Julie2owlsdene wrote: Apparently with Waterstones it depends on the store manager if they want to keep stock of a certain book. I tried to leave a review on Amazon but got this message:
Sorry, we are unable to accept your review of this product for either one or both of the following reasons:
Your previous review of this product did not comply with our Customer Reviews Guidelines. Amazon does not permit reviews from customers whose relationship to the product or seller may be perceived as biased.
Big Brother has worked out that Simon's review is biased too as they have deleted it, so you are now down to 5 reviews.

Thanks for your lovely review on Waterstones anyway, Nigel. I guess as you have such a talented son, they know you'll only have praise for the artwork.

That's very interesting! I mean, surely there could be two people with the same surname who aren't related? I can understand Simon's being deleted maybe, as he's listed as illustrator, but don't see why yours would also be deleted!Moonraker wrote:I tried to leave a review on Amazon but got this message:

Re: The Mysterious Boy - Julie Robinson
Nothing surprises me anymore. I can see their point in trying to stop biased reviews - but can't fathom out how they knew Simon an I were connected, and that I know Julie. I could try again as I now don't get the message when clicking on Write a review. I'm hesitant to in case they see this as a violation of their rules and deactivate my account.

My two grandsons are absolutely thrilled with their copies of your book, Julie, and are very interested to learn that the author is a personal friend.

Re: The Mysterious Boy - Julie Robinson
I'm beginning to wonder whether Amazon will ever have it in stock!! Anyway - I've already paid for it and they will notify me when its dispatched - which is when they will debit my account.
I was surprised to see you don't have a 'look inside!' feature enabled on your book Julie - that's quite unusual these days - but maybe its because they don't have a printed copy available. I think its a great feature to be able to look inside a book before purchasing, and surely encourages sales. Maybe you should try and remedy that!

Re: The Mysterious Boy - Julie Robinson
As you say, Rob, if they're still processing the stock then it won't have that feature yet. Marketing have said that sometimes it can take up to two weeks for distribution to get sent out to various places.
I guess if I was JK Rowling then stock would have been there even before the release date.
I don't control the stock, Robert, so I can't enforce anything. It's all down to the publishers marketing department.
As your own book is self published then I'm sure you have control of what happens. You could always get onto Amazon and ask - when is the book liable to be in stock.
