I am not even sure that you would call this a forgery as it is nothing like Enid Blyton's writing - 'Julie' may just have a friend or relative called Enid! It is only the seller who says it is by EB and I can say without any shadow of a doubt that it isn't!

I would certainly take your word for it, Tony - but there are still some facets of it that look a little like Enid Blyton to me - such as the 'Here it is --' with the dash etc - but on the other hand I would never buy it - even if it was only £1.

hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

I don't think it's representative of her normal style/salutation.
Wonder what the book is worth without the signature?

What bothers me is that someone else will be conned into paying over the odds for a forgery.

What bothers me the most is that someone is gullible enough to pay for this. I really hope that the potential buyers who wish to buy it will come to this thread before they buy it.

Has someone drawn a line through the name Enid originally wrote the dedication for?

At first glance, I thought the crossed-out word was regards. Two different styles of writing and two different pens used there.

Yes, it looks like Enid originally signed it for Margaret and then Jackie presumably acquired the book second hand and scribbled out Margaret's name to add Jane and Joan! Obviously not realising that copy would have been worth much more if not defaced... :P (Assuming Enid's signature there is genuine, that is, but it looks it.)

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

A letter from Enid on holiday in Swanage. Notice the signature - can anyone work out the date?

It must be early in the 60s... she's busy with TV programmes, plays etc. I wonder if it is 1960 with a rather carelessly written '0'?
