Re: Forum reunion
Until a definite date is fixed, I don't suppose anyone can say whether they can attend or not.
I tend to agree with Nigel, pick a date and stick to it.

Re: Forum reunion
We can check availability nearer to the date but I will probably be going anyway - I could end up talking to myself but that will be no big change!

Re: Forum reunion
Perhaps Sally could offer a definite venue and date. That way we can say a definite yes or no where attendance is concerned.

Re: Forum reunion
I don't know how often Sally checks this thread.
If you are looking in, please offer a suggestion for a venue and date, Sally.

Re: Forum reunion
Sorry everyone for starting this conversation and then going on holiday! Now back and delighted to see that the suggestion has met with so much interest. I would also be happy to meet up in Beaconsfield again - seems a good venue for us to all generally reach - finding a date to suit all in October at this stage might be challenging. As a number can't make the 14th, would suggest 7th or as second choice 21st (weather likely to be less good).
Alternatively (or as well) we could plan for Exbury Gardens in May next year - when the rhododendrons are out and the obviously best time to see it. Setting a firm date in advance seems the best solution for everyone to work round.
If Beaconsfield on say the 7th suits the majority, we could go for that as a start? Happy for someone else to take the lead on this and make arrangements once a date has been agreed.

Re: Forum reunion
I hope you enjoyed your holiday, Sally.
As far as I'm concerned, it might be better to aim for a meeting at Exbury Gardens next May. I'd be happy if a date could be arranged for one of the Saturdays in May 2018. What does everyone think?

Yes, I don't mind Exbury Gardens, next May. As this year will be a bit difficult for me now being so late.

Re: Forum reunion
Shall we then agree to aim for Exbury Gardens in May next year? We should obviously avoid the two Bank holidays (Saturday 5 May and Saturday 26 May). Any thoughts on the 12th or 19th?

Either would suit me, Sally.

Re: Forum reunion
Any for me too, Sally. Once a date is picked let's stick to it, just like the EB Days were fixed, so we don't end up with no meeting at all. In fact wasn't the E.B days around the 12th of May? If so, let's use that date, and put it down now so that everyone can work around that one date as we used to do with the E.B days.

Re: Forum reunion
Hope you enjoyed your holiday, Sally. Exbury sounds super to me. A lot of things are up in the air for me but I'd certainly try my hardest to keep 12th May free, Julie. That would be a good time to see the rhododendrons and azaleas at their best.

Re: Forum reunion
Exbury is a fairly long way for me and I don't think I'd be able to make it, but it sounds lovely and I hope it all works out for you to have a wonderful day.
Pardon my complete ignorance, but am I right in thinking the Blyton connection with Exbury is that the 1970s Famous Five TV series was filmed in the area? I vaguely remember it being on telly when I was very little, but I don't have anything like the encyclopaedic knowledge of it that some of our members have...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
