Nice photos, Shadow. Walking by the river is lovely on a summer's day.

Lovely photos of a delightful area to visit, Shadow - even with children in tow. :D

As Shadow has told you, we met up in the tea garden just as we were finishing a delilcious piece of carrot cake with our tea. I think Shadow and her family and ourselves were the only visitors from the Blyton forum but it was a lovely day - we started with a walk along the "long riverpath to Marlow" but didn't get that far - there was an organised run taking place along the river. It made me think of Fatty running along the path to get away from Eunice in Missing Man! We then had a picnic and finally visited Old Thatch in the afternoon.

We had a good chat with both Jacky and David Hawthorne - Jacky said that despite the weather this summer, the visitors had kept coming. The garden still looked lovely although some of the plants were past their best this year and the house had been decorated on the outside.

Maybe another visit next year.....for those wishing to go at any time, the gardens are open until the end of August on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1400-1700.

Nice pictures that have a familiar look about them now that I’ve been there!
We also had refreshments outdoors and the cake was as good as any that has come out of Joan's oven.
