Well spotted! You are the only person to notice/comment.....it was an oblique attempt to draw attention to.....the curse!

Ah, I didn't know about that, Pete! I read no papers and rarely listen or watch the news. I live my life in blissful ignorance and fantasy. :D

This show is super addictive. :D I had recommended Downton Abbey to a bunch of my friends, and now they are all completely hooked. I just got an email from a friend in California saying he and his family can't get enough of this show. After I told them about it, some of my other friends watched the first episode of season 2, which is airing right now. They liked it so much that they are now digging up the entire first season on Netflix (since we none of us watched it when it first aired, most people are getting it on Netflix now). Another friend of mine streamed the entire first season on Netflix before season 2 started, when she heard I spent New Year's day watching the marathon. So she also did a marathon viewing on Netflix.

I think it is the period setting that makes the story so interesting. I don't think the same story in a contemporary setting would have the same impact. This is a really cool show though.

Downton Abbey does disco!!

What would the Dowager Countess say? The ladies of Downton Abbey have cast off their period costumes in favour of a little disco chic.

http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/article/ ... disco.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Laura Carmichael, who plays shy Lady Edith, chose the most revealing look in a pair of lurex hotpants and off-the-shoulder top.

She was joined by Jessica Brown-Findlay and Michelle Dockery, otherwise known as Lady Sybil and Lady Mary, and Zoe Boyle, who played Lavinia Swire.

The actresses who play Downton's dowdy maids were also given the opportunity to dress up for the day.

Glamorously attired in a sparkling cocktail dress, Sophie McShera bears little resemblance to her character, the downtrodden Daisy.

Joanna Froggatt (Anna), Amy Nuttall (Ethel) and Clare Calbraith (Jane) completed the line-up.

The second series of Downton Abbey ended with a record 10.7 million viewers and a third is in the works, with eight episodes planned for 2012.

Fans will get another fix in December, when the drama returns for a Christmas special.

:: The full feature is in the December issue of Marie Claire, on sale now

Anyone looking forward to the new series which starts this Sunday? I know I am. :D

Don't know whether it would be better if they ended the show when it was still extremely popular,or perhaps made it run till the second world war???

Anyhow,I personally think its one of the best shows that has been produced for all the family for many a year.

On a separate note, haven't seen the new Dallas yet!

Really looking forward to it.

I wonder if this is the last serious if it will see the family run out of money and hand it over to the National Trust? I believe they picked up a lot of their great house in the last 20's/early 30's???

I'm also looking forward to the new series, Julie, especially after visiting Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) in July. :D
