The Enid Blyton Society

I'm looking for a Blyton enthusiast or expert to give a talk to adults about her significance to children 's reading in January 2015 in Canterbury. If you are that person or can network on my behalf please do and get in touch.

Yes, I agree Julie! The most prominent person that comes to mind is Viv. It might be well to contact her if Tony or Anita don't volunteer.

The Enid Blyton Exhibition opens on the 17th of January. I wonder if this is connected in some way?

You are jesting of course, Pete. The request is for an expert! An enthusiast with a handful of facts and weaving out the rest isn't what is required!

Viv is used to public speaking if Tony or Anita or not available.

An evening meeting in Canterbury would involve a night away, so I would imagine that it would need to be someone fairly local. I understand it is connected to the forthcoming exhibition.

You can tell that Nigel has been talking to me! Yes, Dorcas47 does work for the Beaney in Canterbury, and this talk is connected to the exhibition. I have been talking to her via email and not on these forums and I have suggested a possible speaker - sorry Pete, but it wasn't Izzy! Canterbury in January is far too great a distance for me to consider and I am fairly sure that the same would apply to both Anita and Viv.

So, who have I suggested - well I know you all like a mystery!

It'd better not be me - I may live in the same county, but I can't claim to be a Blyton expert or a great public speaker!!

Definitely not!!! I know I can waffle on for hours, but strangely enough, not in front of crowds of people.

My daughter used to like Noddy and The Famous Five, I wonder if there's something she's not telling me..........

Might have to invite myself down for a visit on the 15th January though.

For me it would be a journey of between 2 hrs 20 mins and 2 hrs 40 mins each way, £42 return off-peak. Plus walking to the station (20 minutes each way) and presumably a walk or bus journey at the other end. Not that I'd be any good at public speaking in any case!
