One thing that really bugs me about this forum...

Post by Jamie »

... is that no matter how many time I put a tick in the box for email notifications for thread replies, it's always blank when I start a new post.

How can I set this thing to auto-tick?

I never use that option so I don't know, but I hope someone can help.

I don't even know where this box to be ticked is? I simply log in and view new posts.

I have altered it for you in admin, Jamie, so it should work okay now, let me know if it doesn't.

I don't either, Nigel. :? Where is the box to be ticked?

Underneath the reply box is a set of options, the last one is "notify me when a reply is posted". I'm assuming that's what the thread is about.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Click on 'User Control Panel' - then click on 'Board Preferences' along the top - then click on 'Edit Posting Defaults' down the side. There are four options and I have 'yes' on all four. If you want to change one of these you must click on submit after doing so.

I find this very useful as I get an automatic email on any thread that I have posted in, but each time the email comes through it gives you four options and I always click on the top one which takes me to the most recent post since I last visited. If you go to the fourth option that allows you to stop getting emails from that particular thread. Why not try it!

'Cos I don't see the need! Every time I come to the computer, I check View New Posts on the forums. I don't need to fill up my inbox with emails telling me there are new posts! :D

I keep meaning to ask whether anyone else finds "Search Forums" slow to use. If I search for a word and the thread I'm looking for doesn't come up on the first page, I generally have to wait ages till it allows me to click on page 2. The same happens if I want to refine my search, or start a new search. A message comes up saying something like, "Sorry, you cannot search at this time. Please wait and try again." It doesn't always happen, but it happens quite often.

Yes, that's right. I usually notice I'd forgotten to tick it about two seconds after clicking "post", much to my annoyance.
