Forumites Meet Up in August?

Just to ask if members would plan to meet up this summer as a kind of informal society day? There was some mention of a meeting one Saturday in June or September, possibly along the Thames which might include a pub lunch and a boat trip? Wondered if there are any other ideas or if this might just fit the bill?

If so, could I get the ball rolling by suggesting Saturday 4 June or Saturday 2 July? There are number of boat trips from Maidenhead but I haven't really looked into it in any detail.

Any thoughts?

I would be interested in a get together, but unfortunately I can't commit to any date at the moment.

I can quite possibly do either of them if I know in advance. I would love to come to an informal meet-up — I was planning to attend the previous two, but each time something else came up on the same day that I couldn't get away with missing! Third time lucky, they say...

I would love to meet up- not able to give an exact date now. Is there a plan for the model village (Ravenscot -spelling?).

At the moment, Chick and I are free on both dates, Sally. :D

July would be better for me, Sally. A trip on the river sounds fine, or just a get together in the pub is fine too.

I've been on the river for a short trip along the Thames from Henley on Thames, so I'm happy with Maidenhead, or even Marlow as I believe they go from there too. :D

I expect I could be free on either date.

We visited Bekonscot model village last autumn when we met up in Beaconsfield. I doubt we would be taking another trip there so soon, but you never know!

Key thing, I believe, is establishing a date which a majority of people can make and then to explore options. Sounds like 2 July may be a good day for many. Any more comments on dates?

Sally, the 4th June is much better for me - really hope to see you and the others!

At a pinch we could do either. :)

Just catching up again on this thread to try and find a date to meet. Sounds like 4 June might be the preferred date at least by those who are normally keen to attend. I wouldn't want anyone to feel excluded but hopefully early June might be a good date before the key holiday period.

Once a date is agreed, wondered if we could share thoughts on some ideas. As Julie mentioned, there are boat trips from Marlow and Maidenhead (Marlow is a bit more Blytonish and a nice town) - a quick browse at website suggests some regularly hourly boat trips for about 40 minutes - could combine with a pub lunch first.

Alternatively, we could go for say lunch in Cookham and a walk along the river and up Winter Hill (Christmas Hill where dark dire deeds took place!) - I have done this walk and it's a good one.

Other thoughts welcome!
