Yes, so would I. I wouldn't want to go if it was someone spouting drivel such as we read in the press and in Wikipedia. I'd only get wound up like I did at a Society Day once when the speaker continuously referred to Kiki as Kie-Kie!
I was at that 'Day'...but think it was more along the lines of 'Kai Kai' than Kie Kie'

I will never forget it, Rob. He pronounced it to rhyme with pie-pie. I had to leave the room and stand outside to lower my BP! :D

I think that was my first E.B Day, thinking back! I did wonder why he pronounced the name wrongly, but didn't think much of it really! I was too full of the glorious day to worry! :D

Obviously either hadn't read The Ship of Adventure, or else would also pronounce Micky as My-ky! :P

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

It was a squeamish moment! I remember you leaving the room, Nigel - and I think a few of us felt like doing the same!

I remember it too. Wasn't it Duncan McLaren who was the culprit?

Looking at the 'Enid Blyton Day' pages it was actually John Lester, in 2008, reading passages from The Island of Adventure. 8)

Ah yes you are right of course Rob. Apologies to Duncan for besmirching him. :D

Well I've had a lovely evening. I very much enjoyed the exhibition and David Rudd's marvellous lecture, and last but by no means least finally meeting the inestimable Courtenay in perrson. For those who are still debating whether to attend the exhibition at some point in the future I can thoroughly recommend it.

Just one thing. The exhibition mentioned that the Enid Blyton Society holds an 'Enid Blyton Day' every spring. Is there something you're not telling us Tony?

No sadly not. No pictures were allowed in the exhibition itself and once Mr. Rudd began his lecture I was too engrossed to think of anything else. :(

There have been many Enid Blyton Days, but sadly not during the last few years. (2012 was the last one I think.) As I think speakers are very hard to find that will attend the days.

Glad you enjoyed the evening. :)
