Sounds great - except I can't bear to stand up and talk in front of people like that

It's not people it's your friends!

I think Nigel and Pete would make fabulous comperes - what a double act.

Eddie, it was a visual image that slipped into my subconscious mind from who knows were? :D :D

I mean,I don't even know if you've ever had a pedicure? Or indeed if you would be happy to receive one from Stephen????

Thanks for the explanation, Pete.

I can't say I've ever a pedicure, although I have had my feet treated by a chiropodist a few times. :D

Sounds like a good idea - but how about A Return to Old Thatch, to include us booking the side room at the Spade Oak as we did before - allowing space and time for "presentations or speeches". A visit to the garden, including tea and cake could then also be included. Dead easy!

Francis - it doesn't matter who it is. Ask me to stand in front of people and speak and I'll speak as fast as humanly possible and go bright red!

Katharine - I'm afraid I will have to veto your last suggestion as I can't ride a bike.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Fiona, chatting to us will do nicely - I certainly wouldn't want you to be embarassed. Maybe the Sally's suggested Old Thatch visit and room in the pub, where we could all chat in an informal way, would do the trick!

Don't worry Fiona, I'd be last in the queue for a 12 mile bike ride. Even if by some miracle I managed to get there in one piece, I'd need at least 3 weeks to recover before I attempted the return journey!

Sally, I've already visited Old Thatch twice, and don't need much persuading to return there. Although if there were about 30 of us, they might need to stock up on their delicious home made cakes. :D

Why not starting to practice? It might prove useful for your second project next year as well. ;-) Of course you have to start slowly. During the first week one-mile-rides, during the second two-miles, etc.

You miss so much when you don't have an internet connection - even if it's only for a few days! Welcome back, Julie. :D

I see the title to this thread has been changed. Apologies to the management if I made it look like an official alternative to a Society Day - I shouldn't have used Enid Blyton Day 2014 as a title.

Funnily enough I was looking for the other title this morning, and thought it had been deleted, but then I found this title and it's the same subject!

I was a bit confused as well, but then it doesn't take much to confuse me!
