Re: Enid Blyton Day 2013?
I thought about doing an EB day myself - just for the kids in my neighbourhood...I am pretty excited of the idea did anyone here tried to do something like that as well? I mean - even if the children attending my celebration didn't read EB books, I might convince them by reading out or playing out audio book right?
My childhood means Enid Blyton
Enid.Blyton.net Days
I have held a couple of enidblyton.net events in the grounds of my house. They were well attended with guest from as far away as Georgia, USA. Sadly, our Bangladesh correspondent could make neither of the dates.

Oh no. I hope there will be a day, because my mom said yes! If Poppy, Abi, Nigel, Ming and many other forum members came, it would be great!! In our UK trip in May, we missed the day by a day ( you get what I mean ) But I had only started reading the forums. Then my mom said yes to join it, and so I know you all muuuuuuuuch better, so if I come to a day, I'll have a lot of fun! Hopppppppppe there will be a day in 2013, because I've even saved up!

Hi Darrell,
I'm still hoping that there will be the regular EB Day taking place in mid May like every year over the past 4+ years since I joined the Yahoo Blyton Group.
We'll be in Europe in May 2013.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that in the end it will work out !!!

Yesterday went to my Postcard Club meeting and got chatting to a man who
collected Bourne End postcards. Turned out his mother knew Enid very well
and he was very familiar with 'Old Thatch'. Told me that before it was a residence
it used to be a very old Inn - I must look out for postcards of it! It's a very small
world.

Wasn't Dick Turpin reputed to have stayed at the inn and stabled Black Bess for the night too.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I should have asked him that one! Anyway I encouraged him to visit out
site and join up - looks like he could have quite a bit of background information
on Enid in Bourne End.

How lovely, Francis. Let's hope he joins the forums, and shows us some of the postcards of Bourne End. I had heard and read that Dick Turpin did visit Old Thatch when it was an Inn with his famous horse, Black Bess.Francis wrote:Yesterday went to my Postcard Club meeting and got chatting to a man who

Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.

Julie - I did encourage him a lot. From what he was saying he has a lot of
information and insights on Enid in the 1930s. He has helped produce a book
on Bourne End which includes something about Enid and 'Old Thatch'. He
has a very good Bourne End postcard collection showing views from the
Edwardian Era onwards.
