Thanks Sally, for trying to arrange a visit. I guess on the 12th of May we were all in a euphoric mood, and wanted the party to continue, so another meeting seemed a fantastic idea. In the cold light of the next few days, maybe people thought, "We've done that, do I really want another journey to meet up again, so soon?" I have tried to arrange things in the past, and people are full of it when first approached. Then, soon after, and as the day approaches, the excuses roll in!

Maybe it is too soon, and we did explore Old Thatch gardens only a year ago. Ah well, another time, perhaps.

Just a thought. On 7th July 2012 the Laleham Village Fair is being held.Laleham is where Jennifer Thanisch's parents ran The Three Horseshoes pub.(Anne in the 1970's FF).

It's at the Laleham Recreation Ground which is behind the pub, entrance opposite The Turks Head (another pub) in the Broadway. From noon to 4pm.Google "Laleham village fair" for details.

Is there going to be an EB Day next year, and if so, when?
Just in case I can make it...

Have a good day guys! Hopefully you won't get soaked through!
Abi.

Still trialling other writers, but will eventually go back to reading a bit of Blyton! Just too many books...

Occasionally will pop in! xx

Saturday was just appalling weather everywhere, although it did brighten up slightly in the afternoon.

They said on the radio this morning that in Bournemouth it was the 12th wettest summer on record since records began in the 1870's - and we aren't even halfway through summer yet!
I went on some great adventures reading the Famous Five books.

I don't think the gathering went ahead, as it was so near to when we all met up at the Enid Blyton Day.

I think you folks are taking all the rain away from us.
We are in the middle of a heat-wave and a a failed monsoon.
People have died from heat strokes, and crops are on the verge of failure..so consider yourselves lucky for getting soaked in the rain..

We decided some weeks ago to cancel the planned gathering at Old Thatch on 7 July, because there wasn't enough support. Just as well we did, as the weather was awful and I am sure Jacky wouldn't have wanted us trecking round her garden and taking muddy boots into her kitchen. If and when we have a good Saturday this summer, I hope to go down and spend a pleasant afternoon there and picnic by the river. It always makes me think of the Find Outers spending their lovely innocent summers together in Peterswood.

I certainly does that, Sally. A place where 'mysteries' are solved too! :)

I'd love to visit Old Thatch. But this was an incredibly wet day. I' d planned to go to Laleham village fair -but sitting in the car during a cloud burst decided to reluctantly go home. Both will have to wait for another time. :(
