Are you sure about that, Ming!!

1) Really, Julie?
2) Fat chance, that! More like I'd convert you!
3) I'm pretty sure we'll both have to compromise.
4) There's always the dishwasher!

I'm sure you'll manage!

England have been playing cricket in Bangladesh and I read with amusement a much-travelled journalist's account of Dhaka. I know you like numbers so:-
1. It was the most oppressive heat and humidity he had ever seen on a cricket field.
2. The air pollution was the worst he'd ever come across.
3. The traffic congestion was worse than anywhere else in the world.

I can't wait to book my next holiday!

1) More like a warring brother and sister - maybe more like Philip and Dinah, rather than Fatty and Bets!
2) I'd never ditch JC, but I'm sure we could come to a compromise!
3) Touché! However, it is said that you shouldn't uproot an old plant.
4) No need. I like washing up, in fact I have 40 years experience of it. I've never had a dishwasher.

It was Nigel that started the numbers trend!

1) Heat? He hasn't seen anything yet! The heat and humidity is just beginning. Wait till June. And did he mention the blackouts?
2) Air pollution - well in the middle of Dhaka it IS horrible, not where I live though.
3) If he thinks our traffic congestion is bad, then he'll find Calcutta a nightmare!

I know you're being sarcastic, but it can't be much worse than being arrested at the Berlin Wall!

Hmm, I guess that's answered Dick Kirrin's question! Image

In all fairness I should have added that he said despite the extreme poverty he thought that the people were some of the nicest and friendliest he had ever met.

I bet that you have air-conditioning anyway, Mingster!

You're right about the air-conditioning! But I too agree about how the people really are amazing. :D

I agree about India, I have been in several large cities myself and never mind the traffic, it is almost impossible to move around on foot as there are so many people in the streets!

Well, you may be no nearer to getting a DVD of the Enid Blyton Day, Pete, but you've been the catalyst for a most entertaining thread!

It's lovely to see a youngster with such good manners. Help yourself to a piece of shortbread from the tin, young Pete, but mind you wipe your feet before going into my nice clean kitchen!

[quote]4) No need. I like washing up, in fact I have 40 years experience of it. I've never had a dishwasher[quote]

Have you considered a career in dishwashing? Perhaps you could start a mail order service? Clean plates by return post? After 20 years I still hate washing up as much as I did when I first got married. Even though I've had a dishwasher for several years now, I seem to have spent most of this afternoon washing up all the things that aren't suitable for it, and there's still more to do!

What a waste of time, I could have been finishing the Mystery of Tally-ho cottage. I think I've guessed the ending, but don't want to cheat and look in case I've got it wrong and spoil it.
