If everyone is having trouble hearing, then I think we should repeat all those E.B. Days, just in case some of us have missed anything! :P

How about votes!

You've got my vote, Julie.

I'll second Julie's suggestion. I've been reading all about the early EB days when they were held at Rickmansworth, and wish so much I'd been able to attend. Sligthly difficult as I had no idea the EB Society existed. Sadly so many of the people who spoke are no longer with us, but I'd welcome a chance to hear from those who are still here and have spoken in the past.

I don't know about others, but I've no objection to 'repeats'.

You can have my vote if it's you that's organising them Julie. Well volunteered!

I am sure that we have discussed that video on YouTube before, as I remember trying to find out who loaded it - without success. That was about two and a half years ago shortly after the event.

I'll always help you with an E.B. Day, Tony. Just say the word. :D

I wasn't sure whether the link was on this 2010 posting, but as there are heaps of pages, anyway, I'd thought I'd pop it in save scrolling through! :P

Why are we having posts on the 2010 Day. Surely, if Julie is volunteering to organise a Day, it should be in 2013!

There isn't one in 2013, old thing! I was just replying to Tony's Q and saying that I'd help in any shape or form. You can be roped in too!

I've always put the blame on the film-makers, especially those responsible for sound. However, the last DVD I watched didn't say "Subtitles" as usual - it said "Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing". It's as though they were saying, "It's not our fault if you can't hear the film properly - the problem lies with your ears!"
I always watch films with subtitles. A lot of DVDs I buy don't have subtitles, so I download them from Subscene. The volume isn't always the problem for me, it's usually the speed of talking, or the speaker's accent. Funnily enough I never need subtitles while watching TV shows (I am a regular watcher of Community, Downton Abbey and used to love Desperate Housewives), I find the sound extremely clear and audible. I think the sound mixers of TV shows are just better than those that work on films!

What DVD was that, Anita? I think I might be hard of hearing.

Julie, thanks for the YouTube link. :) Wish I was there.

Actually I'm not sure - maybe I'm suffering from amnesia as well as hearing loss! :) I think the films I've watched most recently on DVD have been An Education, The Iron Lady, We Bought a Zoo and Mickybo & Me, so perhaps it was one of those.

I wish our phone had subtitles. I would certainly use them when I phone Virgin Media Customer Services...
