Most intriguing, tiq!

I think we can excuse Tony for not paying (if indeed he doesn't) an annual fee of £10 for a Journal subscription as without him we wouldn't have a Journal (or a society, for that matter!) He also refuses to draw a salary for running the Society and all that that involves. He should earn in excess of £30,000 a year which he refuses to draw!

I must say Fiona, I too thought, "Blimey! Don't say Tony isn't a member of the Society!"

Thanks tiq
I'm not sure if I can interpret that right, but...

Any idas what: "in the very near future" means?

I'm really looking forward to see what Bill did think while he was a prisoner and his thoughts about Tipperlong and how the kids got his boat.
Bill: "I don't know what to say. You're only kids — but you're the finest company of friends anyone could have. You know the meaning of loyalty already, and even if you're scared you don't give up. I'm proud to have you for my friends."

My friend didn't say, but I've always interpreted that particular phrase as meaning a month, or less, or more.

Hi tiq
Thanks for the information. In that case I'm checking regularly... Perhaps it will be a Christmas gift? I would hope so!

As said above I'm really looking forward to read the next Diary. :D

Lenoir, let me hope that in light of the journal's quality, it was not pilfered by a postal employee that end after all Enid Blyton has been very popular in South Africa for a very long time!!!

Nice article on Whitley Bay, Poppy. It sounds like the perfect place to film Five go to Demon’s Rocks. It sounds like it is worth a visit.

Great article Katharine (maybe I’m a bit biased as I was in it!). The article brought back memories, and you have captured the event perfectly. The account of the visit to Old Thatch was just as I remember it too.

Interesting to read this analysis on the Brer Rabbit books and the comparison to the originals. I used to read Brer Rabbit stories to my nephew. My mother used to get frustrated by the repetitions of the word Brer, when reading them out loud and she used to eventually just say “Fox” or “Bear”!

I didn’t realise forgettery was a real word at first. It’s surprising that Enid Blyton wrote so many stories about forgetful people and muddlers, I didn’t quite realise the extent of it. Uncle Quentin wasn’t that bad by comparison to some of the people in Anita’s article.
I still have Robert’s article and a few others left to enjoy.

Barbara Stoney’s article in Journal 16. The play wasn’t deemed good enough to stage.
