Is this book going to be mendable?

I'm considering putting this on my Christmas list:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-Naughtie ... 1438.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Lovely condition book and a nice wrapper, except somebody has put a sticky label right in the middle of it which looks to have torn the paper off :x . Is there any way of fixing it? I've got a thought of removing the rest of the sticker then re-colouring the torn part but I'm not sure how well it would work :? .

You could colour it in probably. Or cut that piece out very carefully and print off a copy of the cover from the cave to put behind it?

Yes - I think Fiona's is the best idea - either cut out a copy from the cave, or get a scan from someone, and fit it into the space. Otherwise I would say it would be pretty difficult to mend, as its right in the middle of the book.

I've often completed spines at top or bottom or corners etc by colouring them in - but depends how good you are at drawing/colouring - and I find it very difficult to match the colours successfully. Even a scan of the cover will be a slightly different colour usually.

Personally...I would wait for another book to come up for auction etc that has a better wrapper...

I’m with Rob. I’ll wait for another copy. This title is not too difficult to get in wrapper.

Thank you, yes I think I'll wait for another copy. I am artistic and if it was the edges or somewhere less noticable I'd have a go at colouring it in and blending it, but in the middle of the cover it's going to stick out a mile. I just hope it doesn't go in the bin because nobody wants a collectible book with a dud wrapper - I hate the thought of original EB books being thrown as they'll never be reprinted in the same way again. I've got seven copies of Smuggler's Top on a shelf because they're not in a sellable state but I can't bear to bin them :lol: .
