Can anyone identify these books 1-9 ???

Unfortunately I don't know the answers myself - so if we do decide tackle this puzzle it's going to take good brains, detection and teamwork up to Find Outers standards! Oh and any 'portry' you have may help too! :D

I do know that number one is The Mystery Of The Burnt Cottage.

Not a clue I'm afraid. None of the cover illustrations obviously resemble any of the stories that I can see.

Could the last one be Missing Man, going off the picture on the cover.

And is book number 5 - Tally Ho House?

The more I study those covers, the harder it seems to get. Is that a tree branch in the fourth book, could it be Secret Room?

I was thinking No. 4 could be Tally-Ho Cottage as it seems to show a treehouse and Fatty in the background disguised as an Indian gentleman with a turban.

Oh yes Anita! Then the girls will be the Woosh twins - I was assuming they were Daisy and Bets at first.

It's not easy is it!
I think Anita must be correct about the turban - I don't think there's any other book in which one features?
Also Daisy's observation would seem to confirm it,so I will add that to the list.

Is that a safe in No. 7? How many of the books have a safe in them, I wonder? Pantomime Cat does, but the picture doesn't seem to fit Pantomime Cat very well.

Looking at book 6, in my copy of Spiteful Letters, Goon nearly misses the disguised Fatty (Telegraph Boy) on his bike, I wonder if 6 could be Spiteful Letters, going off this picture.

Another thought on No. 7. Could it be Ern protecting the old couple from intruders in Strange Messages?

I wonder if number 8 can be Spiteful Letters with the telegraph boy on the bike - not sure of the relevance of the bush with one strange decoration on it though!
