Antiques Roadshow - Famous Five Books
According to the TV listings magazine I'm looking at, the Antiques Roadshow this Sunday, Nov 1st at 8.00pm on BBC1 features a complete set of Enid's Famous Five novels. I thought some of you may be interested.

Wow, must see that. I always watch it anyway. Will be great to see how much they value the set at. Thanks for putting up this posting John.

Re: Antique Roadshow
It'll be interesting to know what condition the books are in & what they'll be worth. I shall make a note of the day & time, as I'm liable to forget...as usual. Thanks, John.

As long as it's not some tatty collection of 90s paperbacks. Thanks for the notice John. I shall look out for it also. It'll be interesting to see which editions they are and what the value and comments from the experts are.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I would expect the books to be hardbacks at least. I wouldn't think the programme would advertise them if they were only tatty paperbacks. Still, we shall see.

Re: Antique Roadshow
I had Tim Wonnacott and David Battie here in 1997 in a programme called The Antiques Inspectors which was fronted by Carol Vorderman (although she sat in the car outside and didn't come in!). They filmed for about 45 minutes without turning the camera off, although the edited version in the programme was only about ten minutes. When it came to my children's books they both admitted to knowing nothing about values and left me to do the talking - not surprisingly none of that was used in the eventual programme! I wish the house was still as tidy and clean as it was on that day!!
I see that the episode is not available, but I have a video of it somewhere that the BBC sent me - I haven't watched it for almost 18 years!!

Sorry, I misread your post, Tony. An intellectual interlude, I'm afraid!

Re: Antiques Roadshow
Thanks John for the Antiques Roadshow tip - I will make sure I don't fall asleep this time. Maybe I had better record it just in case! Pity we can't see Tony's television show - it would have been fascinating.

I like that phrase, better than 'senior moment'.Eddie Muir wrote:Sorry, I misread your post, Tony. An intellectual interlude, I'm afraid!
I'm going to record the programme, as knowing my family they'll decide there's something vitally important that they absolutely MUST tell me just as I'm trying to listen to the Enid Blyton bit. Either that, or there will be something in the cupboard next to the TV that they can't possibly wait 5 minutes to get, so will position themselves right in front of the screen.
