"Soggy Holes" sounds like a very wet Enid Blyton adventure!

I haven't started book buying this year yet as I've had four unexpected bills so far this month (why do they always all come together in January?! ), but I made an exception for a copy of the Fourth Holiday Book I found. At £48 it possibly isn't a bargain as such, but it's a lot cheaper than the £100 the only other available copy is and in almost the same condition!

Its a difficult one, because I have a lovely early edition of the Secret Island with no dust wrapper - which cost me only £3. Its a lovely thick 1941 edition, and although it doesn't have a wrapper, I feel I wouldn't like to replace it unless the wrapper version was also from 1941 and in similar condition.

You probably wouldn't put this one on Rob?

Not for that price, lol! My book does have a wrapper I made, so I would be looking for the real thing!

Goodness that's expensive for a copy wrapper . I think I'll use the library printer and try to make my own for the ones I need when I finally get around to it!

I got In The Fifth At Malory Towers for 50p yesterday. So in less than a month, my Malory Towers collection has gone from zero to five! (Only Second Form outstanding)

I'm slowly collecting the Malory Towers series, but its proving difficult. So far I have First term, fifth and Last, but as I want them in good Lilian Buchanan dust wrappers (hate the Stanley Lloyd versions!) and the Buchanan wrappers seem fairly rare, its a long process!

There is something that always amazes me when I read EB books, especially the school series, and that is the moral values of the children. Like the way they behave shows that they are moral people, they are mostly truthful with each other, they know and acknowledge an injustice when there is one being committed. The children show kindness to others. It's just awe inspiring. And one of the reasons why I think Enid Blyton is not only for children, but for adults as well, she teaches us so much through her books.

I bought a lovely copy of The Secret Mountain from a second hand bookshop in Lincoln on Saturday, a 1954 hardback reprint with a bright, intact wrapper. He wanted £35 for it, I offered £30 and we agreed on £32. I shall be very lucky to find the book with a better wrapper than this one, I'm very pleased with it.

I finally found a copy of "Deux jumelles et deux somnambules" (Fifth Formers at St. Clare's, idéal bibliothèque) which arrived today.

Enid Blytons Treasury arrived today. A 1947 edition with a nice bright wrapper, a book I've wanted for a long time. Very pleased with it, I paid £20. Some lovely colour plates in it and more new short stories for me to read.
