Bought a paperback copy of Up the Faraway Tree, from a second hand book store. Going to read it, for the first time. I hadn't realised that it was more a picture book, than a novel. It will be something new to try!

Well done centcat and Wolfgang! I know some of the books are either Spanish or Portuguese.

I've just bought a 1967 edition of Five Have Plenty of Fun from a charity shop for £1.50. It's in good condition with a dust-jacket and, of course, the original illustrations. I've started to read it immediately. I may have read it before, years and years ago. but don't remember it (or do I, vaguely?) Either way, I think I'm going to thoroughly enjoy it. I don't have any FF books; my favourites were always the school stories, but I may start to collect the FF books again.

Thank you Chrissie (and sixret) - I couldn't resist it. It was in beautiful condition and one of my favourite books as well. I bought it in Alton!

My latest addition to the collection was The Naughtiest Girl in the School. My girl is to go to school soon, and she enjoys stories about girls being mischievous. I remember reading it myself and feeling so inspired :D That's a pity I lost many of my childhood books

I'm currently re-reading the Naughtiest Girl series - on the second book now - and thoroughly enjoying them once again! :-) Whyteleafe was one school I thought it would be fun to go to, even though I hated the idea of boarding school!

I believe that EB was influenced by the progressive and democratic Summerhill. Have you tried the follow-ons of The Naughtiest Girl by other authors? Is this something you would consider? I've read a couple, but not really keen. They are terribly short, for one thing.

Hi jopok, I've ordered many of my childhood books little by little over the Internet and enjoy re-reading them once more.
At first I started collecting many Enid Blyton books, but then other old children's books like Norman Dale's adventure books or "Milly-Molly-Mandy" (Joyce Lankester Brisley) came to my mind. Once I got those, I realized that only a small part of the original MMM books have been translated into German where they are called "Milli-Molli".
So that was an unexpected treasure to be found :).

I love the Milly Molly Mandy books. Wonderful stories of days gone by with wonderful illustrations.

I've never really gone for follow-on books (except for those on this website!) Have a few Famous Five and Secret Seven follow-ons etc but not many. :-D

Yes, wonderful stories indeed. I like the one where MMM has to go shopping without a shopping list and still succeeds. But my favorite is the one with Willy and staying over night in the self-made tent (a blanket thrown over a rope between two trees...who would think of something like that today?).
The German illustrations in the book and on the cover were even nicer...typical 1950's. Check this out:
