Some might class the last of those abilities as a peculiarity rather than a talent! :wink:

You seem to be on the same wave length as each other. I wouldn't want to play against you in a game of Pictionary. :wink:

Ming and I used to email using acronyms, and she always got them correct, so I am surprised that she failed on this one. Well done, Anita! There used to be 'quizzes' where say 50 or so sentences had abbreviations instead of the word, and you had to identify them. For example:

JC had twelve D
F had a D named B
A gold star to the first correct answers! (Both of them to qualify)!

I remember taking a quiz of this kind once (I think I found it on this forum actually). It took a while to figure out several of them, and one in particular eluded me for a long time - I do know the answer now though: 15 M on a DMC.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

15 Men on a Dead Man's Chest

I always thought he must have been a very large man for 15 men to be able to balance on his torso. :D

Heh - jokes apart, Dead Man's Chest was actually the name of an island Stevenson came across in a book and was fascinated by.

Random trivia fact of the day. Those 'letter equations' have a name: ditloids. Anyone up to starting a new ditloid quiz thread in the Games forum? It will be tough to devise Blytonish ones, though I'm sure Anita can come up with them in 2S of a DT.

Two shakes of a duck's tail?

Yes, please do start a ditloid quiz thread in Games if you like. It sounds like fun!

Here's a better map of the island's location

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=British+V ... s&t=m&z=13" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Though if you zoom in once it's on satellite view it doesn't look quite as inhospitable as described on the page Nigel linked.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Found the thread on the forum that has the link to the quiz: http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/foru ... f=14&t=506" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I knew it was on the forums somewhere. By the way, some people have given away the answers in the subsequent posts, so don't read the entire thread before attempting the quiz! :)

I think an EB ditloid quiz would be a great idea. Fatty, are you going to start one?

I remember enjoying the ditloid quiz, so I just started our own Blyton one in games.

(I'm also doing that online one again without having read the thread, so far have 20 right!)
