Hi everyone
Once upon a time on a quiet day, I wrote down the lands at the top of the Faraway Tree (including those referred to in passing), taken from the Dean's Rewards editions. Here's my list.
The Enchanted Wood
The Roundabout Land
The Land of Ice and Snow (home of the Magic Snowman)
The Land of the Saucepan Man
The Rocking Land
The Land of Take-What-You-Want (they then fly over The Country of Loneliness, Giantland,
The Land of Lollipop and The Country of Flop before landing in …)
The Land of Dame Slap's School (they escape by flying over The Land of Sea-gulls, past Three Bears Wood and back to the Faraway Tree)
The Land of Birthdays (where they are then whisked to …)
The Little Lost Island (and then back to The Land of Birthdays)
The Magic Faraway Tree
The Land of Topsy-Turvy
The Land of Spells
The Land of Dreams (home of the Sandman)
The Land of Do-As-You-Please
The Land of Toys
The Land of Goodies
The Land of the Old Woman (Who Lived in a Shoe)
The Land of Magic Medicines
The Land of Tempers
The Land of Presents
The Folk of the Faraway Tree
The Land of Marvels (Connie alone)
(the others then visit Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk and go up the Beanstalk to ...)
The Land of Giants (next to ...)
The Land of Marvels (then back to the Land of Giants and back down the Beanstalk)
Nursery Rhyme Land
Dame Slap's Land (next to ...)
The Land of Tea-Parties
The Land of Secrets
The Land of Enchantments
The Land of Know-Alls
The Land of Smack (but children don't visit it)
The Land of Treats
My favourite: The Land of Presents - where the important message to the children and the reader is to give a gift to someone else.
Quite a wonderful assortment of strange lands. Note that the Dean's Faraway Tree Omnibus omitted six chapters including part of The Land of Magic Medicines (can't have children popping strange pills, presumably) - see the discussion on this thread: http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/foru ... ibus#p1017" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Favourite Faraway Tree Land
Yes, you are quite right, my first thought was of all the things I'd like (not really need). Hangs head in shame.Moonraker wrote:Does it say something that most of us want a Land of Grab What You Can? What about a Land of Cures where all of our illnesses and disabilities could be cured, or a Land Of Poverty Relief where third-world countries could have many of their problems solved. I don't suppose they would make for very exciting stories, though!

I have always been fascinated by the land of know alls. I also like the land of birthdays and the land of presents.
And thanks Booklover for compiling that list. It's very handy.
