Re: Which character's ears would you most like to box?
Been chewing this over and as much as Julian does irritate me, I'd like to box Anne's ears more. She gets the chance to partake in adventures and experience things other children at her school probably won't, but oh no! She wants to stay behind and make gorse beds and make the tea!
I'd also like to box Prince Paul's ears for being such a child at times. Yes, I know he's a child, but does he have to be such a child?! The whole "Prince of Baronia" thing gets up my nose after a while, even if I do love the Secret series!

Prudence (St. Clares) - she was mean, perfidious - I do not know more character´s descriptions! Gwen of Malory Towers was an angel compared to her!

Poor old Anne. Don't forget that she turns into a tiger occasionally, and might well give as good as she gets!manzanita wrote:I'd like to box Anne's ears more. I get tired of Noddy feeling so sorry for himself and would like to box his ears at times - except that his head is made of wood and it would hurt me more than it would hurt him!

Re: Which character's ears would you most like to box?
Susie and Binkie from the Secret Seven books. Actually, sometimes I kind of like Susie, and she's more colourful and rounded than many of the Seven themselves. But she can be truly awful at times, especially when she's in cahoots with Binkie. Edgar Stick and Junior from the Famous Five series would be a couple of others (although in Edgar's case, George saved me the trouble! ).
Best Regards

After much thought I think if I got the chance,I would like to box Dinah's (adventure series) ears.but then she would probably beat me up!
When I'm grown up I won't forget the things I think today.
Re: Which character's ears would you most like to box?
To be fair I haven't read all the Secret Seven books, but that arrogant little tyke Peter needed taking down a peg or two. All this "password - SS badge - Susie is horrid and I'll dismiss you if you tell her" attitude indicates an annoying brat with something of a superiority complex! There's one story in which either Pam or Barbara have to interview their grandmother who might have witnessed something, and she says "Interview me? Oh well, if these are Peter's orders you must do as you are told" as if the little lad's influence is well known around the community!

Dinah. She needs a term at Malory Towers to sort her out.
That's from Three Cheers SS. Good to see that he even has the grannies eating out of his hand.Stephen wrote:There's one story in which either Pam or Barbara have to interview their grandmother who might have witnessed something, and she says "Interview me? Good idea about Peter, a deeply annoying child!
Gwendoline lay down, angry. She determined to make herself miserable and cry.

It looks as if we are all lining up to box Peter's ears. Lay off Susie though, she has more get up and go than the entire Seven put together. In one story she even formed her own sub-group!Kitty wrote:Good idea about Peter, a deeply annoying child!
Back on the subject of Peter, he reminds me so much of a lad who lived around the corner from me in the 1970's. He too was a self appointed born leader with no real redeeming features whatsoever. He would actually try and gather the local kids for the purpose of singing hymns! He even wrote out the song sheets, it must have taken him ages! I occasionally wonder what ever happened to him, he would get so neurotic when the other children would inevitably bring him back down to earth. A very strange child indeed.

Yes, Peter is annoying but at least he is annoying because he is trying to do the right thing. He is bossy to get things done; Susie is annoying for the sake of annoying others. All the annoying things she does are pretty mean, and usually done just to anger the SS or get revenge on them.

Peter is annoying, agreed, but not as annoying or obnoxious as Junior. I could quite easily box his ears!!
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.

Peter for me, I really would like to box his ears!
Some others too... I think Sally from 'The Put-em-Rights' would have the honour as well. Even though she does improve by the end of the book.

Nora from Whyteleafe. Almost anyone who is a monitor at Whyteleafe!
(Am also having a grumpy day)
Oh, and Belinda Towers from St Clares. A really unpleasant nature, that one.
