I would like to box Gwendoline Mary and Alicia's cousin June from the Malory towers series and PC Goon from The Five Findouters Series.

Susie! That annoying, troublemaking, irritating, nasty spiteful vindictive wretch needs slapping into next week never mind her ears boxing .
Spotty Edgar and the odious Junior could do with a good ear boxing as well, along with dear Gwendoline Mary Lacey.

Yes, Susie, Edgar and Junior are three good choices. Along with Bert (who locks Buster up and lies about seeing him chasing sheep).
I'd also go with the bad tempered and unloving aunts (?) in The Secret Island and Hollow Tree House. And also Twit the Baker.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Isn't that called 'child abuse' these days?

But what about the others, Susie, Edgar, etc? Even the adults would be ‘common assault’

Yes,, I am most surprised at the level of violence to children shown by most of you. And, I'm not winking!

Re: Which character's ears would you most like to box?
Well, it's only a theoretical box of the ears. And, as Moonraker said about the animals on a different thread, they're only fictional characters so, apparently, nothing to get upset about. Also, on that same theme, children do get hit, it happens as part of real life - it happens plenty in Enid's books - so going off that previous debate I wouldn't have thought you'd find it surprising, or upsetting, to see it being reflected here (or even on TV - provided it's filmed by the likes of Attenborough, of course - as part of the 'full', not 'boring', life experiences faced by children, etc...)

Balderdash. If they'd had a few more spankings perhaps they wouldn't be so awful. And if they behaved properly they wouldn't need them in the first place so they bring it completely on themselves .Boatbuilder wrote: ↑11 Oct 2022, 23:32 You should be ashamed of yourselves. The person whose ears I would most like to box, although perhaps not literally, is Rose Longfield in the Six Cousins books, especially in "The Six Cousins Again" when she forces Roddy to give the puppy that Twigg arranged for him back to Tommy Lane.

And if their parents had brought them up properly in the first place they most likely would have behaved properly and wouldn't have strayed from the straight and narrow.IceMaiden wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 12:18Balderdash. Exactly. Our boys never had any spankings and are not "awful" and know how to behave properly. If spankings are the answer, does this continue into adult life?Boatbuilder wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 13:22 And if their parents had brought them up properly in the first place they most likely would have behaved properly and wouldn't have strayed from the straight and narrow.

If I was the "boxing their ears" type, there would be only one contender. Junior, Enid's most obnoxious creation.
Personally, my father thrashed me three times a week and pegged me by the ears to the washing line but it never did me any harm. I often wonder why people call me Toby though.
