Short and sweet, but I do like the Mary Gernat illustrations.

Winnie-the-Pooh seems to be in the title illustration.

He does too!
Thank you, Rob — a story of truly great depth, profundity and pathos.
It does leave me wondering, though, why the twins have only the one tricycle between them. They surely couldn't both fit on one... I guess money may have been tight and the parents could only afford one tricycle, but I can just imagine all the squabbles breaking out between Dan and Daisy over whose turn it was!
(Meanwhile, I still have Judy Garland stuck in my head, thanks to Rob.
)

That certainly does look like Winnie the Pooh!
I think the Dan and Daisy stories were so short because they were designed to fit into a 'children's corner' column in Good Housekeeping - I presume.
Glad you are still singing 'The Boy Next Door', Courtenay!

I wonder if Dan had a bike but Daisy was given a dolls' pram - that kind of thing happened back then!

I'm not now... I'm just endeavouring to replace it with
The Trolley Song.

I much prefer
The Trolley Song.

So do I - but it doesn't really fit in 'The Boy Next Door' thread!!

I can't argue with that, Rob.

It'd be difficult to serialise that story.

The "other"
Boy Next Door, you mean, I take it? Oh, I dunno... it could be done as just a few sentences per week, in order to stretch it out and build up the suspense...
