Oh well, that's given that plotline away then.
My apologies - I agree, I should have put a spoiler alert. But from the way others here go on about the Barney books, I do tend to feel like I'm the only one who's never read them.
And anyway, thanks to other people's casual dropping of plotlines in various threads, I've already had the main twist in this series given away ages ago - that is, at the end of book 4, [SPOILER] finds his [SPOILER] and the remaining two books are rather SPOILED as a result!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
This is one readathon I would like to join in with, although I may not read the book too closely as I only read all of them a few months ago. Any of the Barney books would be good!
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth

Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes

The titles which have had more than one mention on this thread are Rockingdown, Ring O' Bells and Rubadub, so shall we pick one of those? Which would people prefer? My own preference would be for Ring O' Bells, but either of the other two books would be good too.

I would like either Rubadub or Ring o Bells but I'm happy to defer to others if they particularly want a certain book.

I'm happy for the majority to choose, of course, but I'll only join the readathon myself if it's Rockingdown - I don't want to read the series out of order.

I've just read Banshee Towers and then today I read Strange Messages right through in 3 or 4 hours - out of order,so it would be nice to read Rockingdown and start at the beginning of the Barney adventure series!

I will participate, whichever Barney book is chosen. My favourite ones are the later books, but if the first book is decided on, for those who want to read the books in order, I don't mind at all. They are all great books and I need to reread them all, really!

You can always read Rockingdown on your own before you read the chosen book for readathon, that is if the majority of us choose other book than Rockingdown.

The hypocrisy, double standard, prejudice and bigotry own by some people is so obvious.Shame on them!
Except, if, say, the rest choose The Rubadub Mystery, that makes three other books I have to read before I can join in. I don't have copies of most of them, either, and am curtailing my book-buying at the moment due to more serious financial commitments!

I might be able to join in with whichever book is chosen, assuming we're not starting right away. I have just moved all my books to the flat so they're in boxes and piles and bags but I actually have a reasonable idea where the Barney books are - which is near the top! My favourite from the series is Ring O Bells but I'm happy to start with Rockingdown as the first in the series.

"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.
I don't mind either... I have read Ring o' Bells fairly recently, but don't mind another look at it! Rockingdown would be my preference though as I haven't read it so recently.
'Tis loving and giving that makes life worth living.
We haven't decided on a book yet for the Readathon, but by the looks of things, we've narrowed it down to either The Rockingdown Mystery or The Ring O'Bells Mystery or The Rubadub Mystery...

The Rockingdown Mystery seems to be the preferred choice. Shall we go with that and set a start date about two and a half weeks from now, to give people a chance to obtain and read the book? How about Monday 24th August?
